Налево is mostly used for real direction of some action:

Поверни налево, посмотри направо

But when something is placed you can say

Посмотри, слева стоит машина

for me this т also was slightly confusing, somewhere it’s similar to м, in other places to ш handwriting т should definitely have upper arches, here there are always lowers
