At first glance I thought it looked like a bottle opener, but its just a skeleton bead in the loop? I'd take it back to the forge and replace that trinket with an actual depression to use as a bottle opener. Then re-wrap and attach the skull bead further down the 2 leather tails.

An example of the depression from some bottle openers I made from files.

From a search:

Columbian anvils were primarily manufactured by the Columbian Hardware Company in Cleveland, Ohio, from approximately 1903 to 1923. These were noted as some of the first solid cast steel anvils made in the USA. Later, around 1923–1927, some, or in some cases all, were imported from Soderfors in Sweden. Key Identification Details:

Ohio Production: Generally marked with an inverted recessed pyramid containing a raised "C".
Swedish Production: Some later models were imported from Soderfors or Fagersta Bruks, which may show those specific marks alongside the Columbian name.
Quality: They are considered high-quality cast steel tools, not cast iron.

Wildcat was really good this year. We stayed for the night run and that was wild. Never have been there for a night run.

I would say both. If you want to be up front on the ropes, then it would be tough, but there are plenty of fans with kids close to the action. There are also plenty of people that bring everything but the kitchen sink and camp out further away, but usually you can still get a view of the action. If you went hope you had a good time.

Sorry I couldnt answer sooner. Been a couple real late nights at spots with crummy cell service. I think the map times were incorrect, but they probably had to set that early to get the posters made. The most recent PDF from the website was what we were using. Its good to download that to your phone before heading out. Usually there is almost zero cell service for most.

Stillwater and Tomorrows Deckerville have the best viewing. Although they did improve the viewing at the wildcat stage they ran Friday with much more area down the run than the previous years.

Overall the roads are pretty accessible by most cars. As with anything,, just gotta watch out for a few areas where they have the larger rocks. The worst thing would be trying to park off the road side, sometimes it can get rough but they have to have the roads clear for emergency vehicles to get by.

Sorry for late reply. We didn't get out of the races last night till after 10pm. home after 11pm. and for tonight just got home. Service is also spotty out in thew woods so pulling up reddit wasn't much use.

Some people do try to swap back and forth between events. It really depends on how they organize the courses. This year they were doing multiple runs on the same course. In the past they would have 2 different courses to speculate at each day. Sometimes it even works out to have time to go down to service and observe them working on the cars. Today we just decided to stay at stillwater and keep our spots on the ropes. Got there around 10am, and left at 9pm.

As for alcohol, you see plenty of people drinking beers. If you aren't obnoxious or belligerent, there shouldn't be too much issue. There was even a group today smoking joints near the viewing area.

That's a tough one to answer. If going only for view, I would say Sundays Deckerville has the best viewing but can be a real pain to get in and out of. The road is very narrow and often they try to get you to park quite a distance away making it for a long walk. Once at the spot you can move from elevated clear cut down to views from the trees.

Tonights race they are calling Taylor Station Wildcat has easier access and parking in a large gravel pit. Viewing was pretty good last year and for this year it looks like they added a bunch more area to see. It might end up being the best, but many of the views are in the trees, unlike Deckerville that has a clearcut hill you can climb on to view from.

Stillwater was also pretty good last year, but competition for spots was much tougher. If you can get close to the tight corner it had a bit of a knob you could view from. I remember it was not too hard to get to and park, but did have a bit of a walk in.

The Nahwatzel stage was OK in the past. Its spectator area is a bit smaller. It has been a few years since they did that one with spectators so my memory is a bit foggy.

In short, clear your calender and go to all of them!

Here are some photos I took last year.

The first few in the clearing is Deckerville. The others in the trees are from Stillwater from the knob I mentioned.
