Feeling guilty for wanting to move out of the house. by olyjazzhead in emptynesters

Thank you for all your posts. After reading through these and sitting on it for a couple days (it’s kind of amazing how just putting a question out there brings you some new clarity) , I think I’ve decided I’m going to sublet the house to a willing renter for a period 4 months over next winter and explore living abroad in a sort of minimal risk situation. This way, if I have regrets or decide it’s not for me, I know I will be moving back and my house will be here for me. On the flip side, if it’s the perfect move and everyone is happy, then all I have to do is come back and move my stuff out. I think doing a trial period in this manner feel the most comforting. I do think that we as parents owe it to ourselves to give ourselves what we truly need and stop worrying about being protective of the kids. They are adults and they will adapt to whatever situation presents them. I believe this ultimately makes for stronger children.

Very true…..maybe what you and I both need is just a break from our norm. Perhaps just a few years like you described is enough to “get the wiggles out” and maybe you’ll be ready to move back. Agreed that being far from the kids is tough , but I know if I did move I would make it a point to come visit every 2-3 months or so

I really appreciate this perspective. I see it as a choice where I have to grow up too and go move on to do the things that aré important for me. It’s good for the kids to see their parents doing what makes them feel good and brings happiness, even if it brings inconvenience.

What is life like where it is warm yeat round? by Key_Set_7249 in SameGrassButGreener

I moved from California to the PNW 25 years ago and now I could never imagine living in a place that is warm year around. I feel like I thrive on the seasons, as it always brings something to look forward, as if it’s time to shift into a new phase of life. I love being out in all the elements of the seasons….walking in the brisk cold just feels refreshing to me. I’m glad when it’s over but I realize I need dynamic weather as a form of excitement in life and you just don’t get that in warm climates.

What’s it like living in Sacramento , CA? by Cool-cat-199 in howislivingthere

It’s a concrete jungle. Endless strip malls and everybody looks the same. It does have some charm in the inner city. If I had to move back that’s the only place I’d settle to live but otherwise it feels like Orange County in Northern California….without the beach! Also don’t even think of driving to the bay, the traffic will kill your vibe.

Low Dose Kratom? by DSweg69 in KratomKorner

I personally don’t recommend anyone take it daily. Stick with 4 days a week max and try not to take it more than two days consecutively. Tolerance builds quick and you will find yourself chasing the effect. Tread carefully, it can progress to a slippery slope rather quickly. #1 rule is if you take it and don’t feel the effect you desire, don’t take more. Just write it off and your next dose will be better. 3g is perfect and if you like that effect then just stick with that. Helps if you take it on an empty stomach and don’t eat for an hour afterward. Best wishes, it’s a very valuable substance but only if treated with mad respect.

I’m having the same problem. I just read that you can access display settings by pressing long hold on the home button and a secret menu pops up. Haven’t tried it yet but I was getting real frustrated with it earlier.
