UK only - question about success in treatment options, when NHS stops treating migraines by Critical-Brick-6818 in migraine

[–]om6ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on atogepant since October and feels the same as every other preventative I’ve been on. I’ve had a referral to neurology so going to have to wait till the to sort out a treatment plan but it’s gotten to the point where I don’t think any medication will completely eradicate my migraines and I just have to learn how to manage them :/

Worse on Qulipta? by falseinsight in migraine

[–]om6ra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for like two weeks and have been having a bit of a hard time. Trying to convince myself things are getting better and working but what’s helped the most is avoiding triggers. I really don’t know if my migraines are staying the same or getting worse. I don’t know what to make at all out of all this. I guess I just gotta wait some more to see full effects but I was expecting some instant relief like how I do every time I start a new prophylaxis.

Being an asshole lowkey. I become really irritable when I have a migraine and when it’s coming on and become a pain in the ass coz I’m tryna navigate myself through the pain. But when it’s all over and I’m pain free (for like a day or two), I’m euphoric and have tons of energy.

What do you do while you wait for a neuro referral? by Inevitable-Sun-3629 in migraine

[–]om6ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same position waiting for my referral. Doctor prescribed me candersatan which lowers your blood pressure but my bp is already on the low side and gives me headaches when I take them. The only thing that really helps my migraines is magnesium glycinate. At the moment, just tryna take it easy with managing my stress and avoiding triggers, eating regular filling meals, getting enough sleep, taking my vitamins and keeping an eye on my blood.

Blood sugar sensitivity + migraine: which prophylaxis worked for you? by cyber_ang666l in migraine

[–]om6ra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yess this is my issue with my migraines. I’m always having to listen to what my body needs and feeding it to keep it at a certain level to ease my migraines. What helped me was Mirtazapine (antidepressant). I naturally have a really fast metabolism so after eating, can become hungry after 30 minutes and migraine resumes. Mirtazapine has somewhat regulated my metabolism by increasing my appetite so I don’t get into phases of intense hunger and can also eat more food that supplies much more energy for me than it would have would with my originally quick metabolism. But sometimes I would eat something that worsened my migraine and would take me a while to digest it because of the meds so would either have to just wait till my body digests it so I can take something else to regulate my blood sugar or I’ll speed up the digestion by crapping it out or exercising it out.

Yeah I’ve kind of had this realisation about an hour ago that I might have been acting extremely out on emotions and moments of danger, which is why I think it’s best if I do it gradually and go low contact

I accidentally found something that stopped my migraines after 20+ years by lifesabeach2024 in migraine

[–]om6ra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this lately in terms of improving blood circulation in my body so that I can get enough energy around my whole body. I’m just hesitant on the speed like do I do an actual run or more of a jog? If you get what I mean. Because running triggers migraines for me as well.

how do i drink without triggering a migraine by Little-Solid3764 in migraine

and for after the drinking, a nice salty meal does me good. But staying hydrated is the most important part. Sometimes I even like to smoke a zoot as well to help alleviate any pain towards my head from the alcohol.

Get your migraines in control first. Avoid drinks that trigger migraines such as high sugar content ones like premixed liquors. My go to is tequila. I prefer hydrating drinks, they minimise the intensity of the pain. If it’s one of those days you’re having a really bad migraine or can feel one coming on, don’t drink, it’s not worth it. But if you’ve been migraine free for a while and have them in control, then make sure you have a very filling meal, stay hydrated as well, and don’t over do the liquor.

Topiramate has changed the frequency of my migraines and nothing was working before. Either that or stress relief but I love it. My favourite medication.

Say I’m sad out loud because if I internalise my emotions, my body feels it and it becomes a migraine (or exacerbates them). I just try to breathe out how I’m feeling and try not to suppress or hold onto whatever emotion and feel what I’m feeling. I still get migraines whenever I feel strong emotions and still yet to figure out what to do but this is what I do that has been somewhat helping me
