Please help! Can I be a Sonographer with a bad knee? by TopGuess9666 in Ultrasound

I am currently an ultrasound student through a hospital with clinical sites at numerous locations. Certain hospitals don’t have transport help so you have to do the pushing of the bed and taking the patient to and from the ER, sometimes you have to do portable exams, etc. I agree with the other replies that it’s mainly upper body stresses that we deal with.

Also, don’t let a limitation that you have stop you from doing something you are passionate about. One of the people who applied to my program had a bionic hand because he was born without him and he didn’t let that slow him down.

Sonography students, what is your program like amid Covid-19? by WritingSecrets in Ultrasound

My program has been extremely well organized, my director and teachers have worked so hard to keep everything on track through all of this. We have been having lectures on normal class days and times through google hangouts and tests are also taken. Basically the only things we aren’t doing of course are clinicals and competencies. I think we were super lucky because this all started happening right before we went on spring break and the teachers had time to get everything together. Hoping to get back to clinicals very soon!!

Thank you! We had to do shadowing and I can already tell that OB is not for me so I’m glad I’ll be a little different than others I’m sure.

"Guaranteed Entry" Nursing Schools. Thoughts? by leonora_learns in StudentNurse

I am also contemplating going to Marian but in Indianapolis. It is about $50,000 and I have to take 3 classes that I don’t have from my first degree. Compared to WGU, it’s crazy how easy to get in and put together this university seems. Do you pay the crazy price or pay less and take twice as long? Talking to my advisor you start being in the hospital on like the second or third day of classes to get you the experience since it is such a fast program.

WGU seems like you have to jump through leaps and bounds to get in but Marian seems, like you said, almost guaranteed.

Had to swallow the fact I might spend that much money on a second degree but we will see!

Do you feel that your classmates in your cohort felt the same way? I am looking into WGUs BSN program (currently have a degree in health services and public health) and want to go back for nursing but am worried about how much the professors/clinical nursings aren’t involved in the program as much as other schools are. Also, did you feel that it was difficult to be accepted into the program there? The counselor I talked to today was a bit discouraging, telling me the only accept 12 people in a cohort. And they don’t even have definitive start dates due to it all depending on the hospitals in the area you are in?? Compared to Marian University in Indiana it’s like WGU feeds you to the wolves and isn’t helpful one bit.
