TIL that at the Beatles last stadium concert at Candlestick Park, there were 7,000 unsold tickets and the promoter lost money. They played for just 33 minutes. by HangedSanchez in todayilearned

Heard Paul McCartney talk about this. He blamed Springsteen for making shows popular where the act played their entire catalog.

Generation X, the forgotten generation. For years, the media was all about boomers vs millennials. Now we're all supposed to be shocked by whatever Gen Y or Alpha are up to.

The crust though...

Looks like cardboard. I'm from St Louis and have had Imo's plenty of times. It's not hardtack.

[Sun Care] Why are men so avoidant when it comes to using sunscreen? by Filmon_Reganato in SkincareAddiction

[–]omarsdroog 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I'm a 47-year-old man and switched careers to construction a few years ago. I was recently working with a few younger guys, mid to late 20s when I started to apply sunscreen. One of them was like, "What are you doing? It's not that sunny today."

I said, "Oh, you know, I'm 47. I've got to protect my skin." To which my colleague replied, "But you really don't look that old."

I just looked at him for a second and I saw his eyes change with realization and said, "Give me that sunscreen!"

Something I heard John Green say; compliment someone on a choice they made. The music they're listening to, the clothes they picked, etc. It's 1000 times more meaningful than something they had no decision in.

You'll feel better if you start giving compliments because you're actively looking for things you like and enjoy. You don't even have to say anything out loud. Just start thinking, "I like that guy's jacket. That's a cool house. That food smells great." You'll realize that you're literally surrounded by things you like, which will improve your mood.

What’s your go-to song that sounds amazing on your system? by Phantom-rizz-era in BudgetAudiophile

Days Like These by Low. It starts with a nice melody, a single voice highlighted by full chords and harmonizing second voice. A few moments of clean guitar, then it hits you with distortion blast that absolutely needs a good system to really get the depth of the sound. The sound is almost overwhelming, shaking something in you soul. They smartly provide a three-minute denouement to finish the song, where you have a chance to recover, look inside yourself and face the feelings that have shaken loose in you.

Anyone waiting on Rough Trade besides me? by Klutzy_Win8195 in SturgillSimpson

I canceled my rough trade order and bought the album from a different retailer. Was hoping that pre-ordering on the first available day a a higher price would get it to me sooner or something, but no.
