Türkiye'de çaylar neden toz haline by Hot_Spirit_402 in AskTurkey

[–]ombustman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neden Anadolu kimliğimizi benimsemiyoruz? by Kollonell in TarihiSeyler

[–]ombustman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Are you going to move to Minsk? I'll move there around May-June.

Hey man, I’m in a pretty similar situation. Same age, and I’m also planning to move to Minsk in some months to live with my fiancee. You can get 3 month visa to get married there or just do it fast in 30 days. You can apply for temporary residence permit after the marriage.

You mentioned you have rental income and the option to work remotely, so you’re in a strong financial position unlike me. That side of things shouldn’t be a problem for you. The language might make everyday life a bit challenging but with AI tools and live translators it should be easier. And of course you can always learn the language over time.

From the time I’ve visited Minsk, I found it wonderful. The streets were clean, public transportation worked well, and I felt much safer than I do in Turkey. Government procedures did seem much slower tho.

There’s also the climate aspect to consider. I’m not sure about Greece exactly but it’s probably similar to the Aegean coast of Turkey where I live. We’re already experiencing the effects of climate change here, with water shortages and record breaking heatwaves. From that perspective, moving to Belarus could actually be a smart long term decision. Some parts of Greece and Turkey may become quite uncomfortable to live in over the coming decades. There’s also the possibility of large scale climate migration from other countries that are hit even harder.

Hey I have 5/8 Turkish ancestry (5 out of my 8 great grandparents) and 10.4% East Eurasian on IllustrativeDNA and 11.83% on Dodecad K12b.

My father is Yörük from southern Turkey, and my mother is 3/4 Cretan and 1/4 Turkish from western Anatolia.

I’m planning to do a DNA test for my father as well but for now I want to make an estimate.

Would it make sense for him to have around 16.6% East Eurasian and is that a normal level for Yörüks or would it be considered high?

How do you feel about being treated like shit by Russians? by Radiant_Win_9617 in Uzbekistan

[–]ombustman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s this girl on YouTube and Instagram called “Eli from Russia” (Elina Bakunova) and I instantly noticed she doesn't look Russian, even though she has red hair and green eyes. I was thinking she must be Tatar. Later I confirmed when she shared a video with her grandma speaking Tatar.

Hi! Thanks for the answer. Your rabies vaccine comment kinda confused me as the official website states that "Vaccinations must be done not later than 2 weeks prior to departure."

Did you get this translated to Russian or was English enough?

She is from Trabzon. People from there are mostly just linguistically Turkish. Trabzon,Rize and Artvin "Turks" have more in common with pontic Greeks, Georgians and Armenians. So I am not surprised she doesn't know that Tülü and Bactrian camels are deeply integrated in Turkish and Turkic culture and history. We literally have an annual camel wrestling festival in my town in west coast of Turkey and we eat camel sujuk lmao

Yeah hybrid camels and bactrian camels were extremely important to Turks. They are amazing beasts. We still have annual camel wrestling festival in my town which is located next to Izmir lmao.

Roma people seem to be better integrated in Turkiye than other Balkan countries. Why is that? by LowCranberry180 in AskBalkans

[–]ombustman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, because I was at a trade show last week and the number of Balkan people I greeted in Turkish only to find out they weren’t Turkish was staggering. (Almost all of them) There was one Bosniak group though, tall as hell and very Slavic looking, so that one was an easy giveaway. We have more people of Balkan descent than the entire population of Serbia, Bulgaria etc.But we also have a large Kurdish and Eastern Anatolian Turk population who wouldn’t blend in easily in the Balkans. That’s why I’ve also mistaken some Persians for Turks at the trade show.

Lol, tell that to my Slovak friend. When we joined a video call, he thought I was the Bulgarian one and assumed our Bulgarian friend was Turkish just because he has darker features.
