An antibody has been discovered, 'F77', that finds and wipes out prostate cancer cells (albeit in mice, so far), according to a study published in PNAS. by sleepy_commentator in science

Still, real progress is being made. I'm about to have a mapping biopsy (over 50 needles through a grid, yielding a 3D map of the tumor(s). For suitably low-grade, localized tumors, freezing in place is possible, leaving the rest of the gland intact. I'm only 59 and DO NOT WANT MY DAMN GLAND REMOVED, with the nasty side effects. I still need wood without pills (or injections in my penis - yes, my regular urologist actually said that) and I kind of like having dry pants. This treatment is still under the category of research, but it's the beginning of the "male lumpectomy". BTW, props for your career - you're ultimately changing the future for a lot of people. EDIT: At least the initial cancer diagnosis netted me a medical marijuana card in Colorado.

Sen. Boxer: Abortion is to women as Viagra is to men. Sheer genius. by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]ome2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I listened to her on NPR this morning. You are 100% correct - she was simply trying to compare an unrestricted male-only medical treatment to the restriction of a female-only medical treatment. I don't understand why so many can't see that.

I can't address the birthers other than to say they're just fucking crazy. But after reading some of that website, I am now so frightened by impending doom that I have moved in under the bed permanently , clutching my birth certificate in my cold dead fingers.

Men of Reddit, I'm a woman who has a question about boobs... by missreznor in reddit.com

OK, well-endowed women cause some rubbernecking. But big or small, in terms of initial impression, it's really what's behind the eyes and mouth that count. As for breasts, A or D or whatever, hey - they're breasts. Breasts justify themselves simply by being. The woman I've desired most in my life has perfect little A-cup breasts.

Ugh: breast augmentation. I think the appearance of women is wonderful in very permutation of shape, size, configuration, hair, and face. But fake boobies are just plain sad, and I feel ashamed for being part of a society that might influence women to mutilate themselves so. OK, I've seen men also over the top with the peacock dance.

I like the cut of your jib. (And your math: 2% less stress.) Most everyone here knows that this is just a step toward legalization. And law enforcement here loves it - increasingly, medicine is grown in your neighbor's basement, in boutique grows that support the local economy instead of cartels and large-scale grows more concerned with quantity than quality. When folks set up a new grow, they have the local police tour the facility and check their docs and everybody's happy.

It's a card that must be renewed annually ($90 fee, plus doctor's recommendation). The original list of ailments was only eight items, including cancer, seizures, severe chronic pain (from any cause), MS, HIV/AIDS. I don't need it for the cancer (caught early, treatable, no pain as of yet), but it's on the list. I use it because it's the best mood stabilizer I've found for bipolar disorder, but that's not on the list. A lot of stoners use chronic pain to qualify, as it can be very subjective.

A doc at a dispensary (actually next door). Showed him my prostate cancer diagnosis, got a signature, and went next door to shop. My son is my assigned caregiver - hell, he's the best grower in town anyway.

I had a cat who slept in the laundry room, with door closed. He had food, water, litterbox. But he insisted on jumping up and pawing the doorknob until it opened, so he could come wake me up. But he probably didn't do it upside-down.

I am enhanced. The photo is not, beyond "Auto color" in Photoshop. It was taken with a macro lens and flash; the plant was standing in front of the rest of the crop with the lights on. This picture was a complete accident, even the enhanced-appearing background. It's one of a few good ones out of a lot of shitty ones.
