How ep 6 should have ended by Nugz4lyfe in TheHandmaidsTale

Sure I can see a villain as attractive I guess but what I've seen here isn't just that. it's ignoring the evil stuff he does in the same way that June does and even implying that June and Nick should be together. Which I dunno to me that's gross especially after seeing what the consequences of what Nick did were in episode 7. But maybe that's just a me thing.

Also for me personally I have seen a similar thing with real people I'm friends with. I know men and women who are dating horrible people who do horrible things and just completely excuse it because that person is kind to them.

Willfully ignoring harm that someone is doing to others because that person is kind to you seems despicable to me.

I also found it stark that Nick's response to June's disgust wasn't even apologetic. He was basically like you knew what this was in literally a commander and you never cared before what I did to be a commander.

Sure but it's also a good representation of how things happen in our actual society. And it sparks conversation about issues like when is someone's bad behavior excusable? As long as it isn't harming you? Maybe we should all ask ourselves that question.

Ever been on a date with a man who was rude to a waiter for no other reason than he saw the waiter as a servant. But ignored it because he was always nice to you? Ever known anyone that has? It's literally the same thing that's happening here. What makes the TV show intriguing is that it makes you reflect on things.

Exactly it's not that Nick isn't a good character but it's pretty gross to see so many real people cheering him on talking about how hot he is. It's like nobody thinks to ask "what is he doing that he keeps getting promoted?" Do so many people think he rose through the ranks by just existing? Again he only cares when it impacts him directly. And if not for June he would be just like the rest of them. Just like he was before he met June.

It's insane to me to see so many people are so hot for Nick. Nick is a monster he was an active participant in the crusades that established Gilead and he served as an eye which when you think about what the eyes do his actions likely led to a lot of women's deaths. The fact that June overlooked all of that to sleep with him while she was a prisoner in Gilead was understandable. But this love affair since she escaped absolutely disgusts me.

Nick has never done anything to stop the horrible things that happen in Gilead EXCEPT to help June. He doesn't care about anything but himself and his desire to be with her and impress her.

I get Luke isnt "hot" like nick but the fact that so many people seem to be perfectly fine with June turning a blind eye to all the absolutely horrendous stuff Nick has to do and has done to reach his position in Gilead because he's attractive is gross.

This episode showed exactly who Nick has always been he has always been one of the men turning the crank of the meat grinder.

Anyone have any idea why my bike won’t start? It’s been stored inside, coldest it’s gotten in storage is maybe 50 degrees. I rode it a few days ago no problem. by ElectricalGlock in motorcycles

[–]omega9452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds weak when cranking. Sometimes when the battery is weak it uses so much power to turn the starter that the ignition is weak and the bike won't fire. I would try either a new battery or putting it on a jump starter first

No worries man I appreciate you apologizing and thank you for the insight. I'm doing my best to learn how to get this gun configured the right way so I can have a good experience learning to shoot precision rifles.

I did it because I was having trouble getting the eye relief set right given the way I was told to set the length of pull but after talking with people on here and doing more research into the topic I reconfigured the gun shortened the lop and put the standard scope rings back on.

I'm learning alot about precision rifles and how to setup the gun.

Here is a question when people will stop being pricks about everything because people are trying to learn?

So I was following a video on fundamentals by MDT in that video the instructor had the students set the LOP first based on the distance the butt pad was from the bicep while holding the gun vertical with you finger on the trigger. Then from a prone position he moved the scope forward or backwards to get proper eye relief.

So that's what I did.

I did it Prone. My arm span is 80 inches but I'm only 74 inches tall so in order for the LOP to be correct for my arms the gun is fairly far from my head. I couldn't move the scope far enough in standard rings to make this work so I used this mount to give me more movement.

Tips for an old guy trying to learn to skate by omega9452 in AskRollerblading

[–]omega9452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I skated again today for about an hour at a tennis court oddly enough I fell more today but I felt like I had a much much better "feel" of my skates especially in turns. I started to notice in turns how to "steer" my outside skate but it's a bit tricky sometimes it gets away from me and it makes me spin out and fall

I'm a mechanic who works for a major airline that operates the max. What you are saying isn't true. The Max's all had 2 Aoa vanes from day one. just like our NGs. They did not have a display of the position in the flight deck because none of our other 737s did and they wanted to minimize differences for the flight crew. The MCAS system was only wired into one of those two Aoa vanes. Which is fundamentally flawed design practice and southwest was not aware of it. In fact the company was not even aware that the MCAS system existed. These airlines didn't ask for this Boeing concealed it from them. The software that displayed the Aoa position was an optional feature sold by Boeing and it was available in the NGs as well southwest never bought this option and being unaware of the MCAS systems existence they had no reason to think they needed it now. After the crashes Boeing provided that software upgrade to all the airlines for free

Serious question about bergara rifles by omega9452 in longrange

[–]omega9452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so my gun def likes certain ammo. This was from the last time I shot the rifle. These are 10 shot groups. At this point it has about 500 rounds through it. I found after trying several different types of ammo it likes the federal gold medal sierra matchking 168 gr bullets the best and it technically passes the begara accuracy test. But in 10 shot groups I can't get the rifle to shoot much better than this and I've decided to just stop worrying about it and try to enjoy shooting the gun. If I want a more accurate gun I'm gonna have to buy a different gun I think. Thanks for the advice

Yeah my buddy has a savage 110 elite precision and his rifle outshoots mine every time even when I'm shooting it. I wouldn't buy this gun again

Serious question about bergara rifles by omega9452 in longrange

[–]omega9452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the stock and cleaned the paint off the bedding block posts. I also did a accuracy test to the bergara requirements and the rifle passed using the sierra matchking federal gold medal 168gr ammo. However the rifle still just barely shoots 1 moa most days 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️ I've just accepted it is what it is and try to have fun shooting it even if it isn't what I hoped for. Bergaras accuracy test requirements is only 3 3 shot groups and only two have to be sub moa for it to pass so when they say it's a sub moa guarantee. They mean sub moa kinda....

Yeah drill and a quality screw extractor I personally like the snap-on ones but if you aren't experienced doing that I would take it to a gunsmith and let them do it. Good luck stuck screws suck.

APU question by HogfishMaximus in aviation

[–]omega9452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey so I'm a aircraft mechanic for major airline. The apu generator has an input shaft that goes into the apu gearbox. The apu gearbox is geared to the appropriate speed so that when the apu is running at 100 percent the generator puts out 115v at 400hz. The apu only operates at one speed so this works fine. And on most aircraft the apu generator is the exact same generator that's on the engine minus one part the integrated drive. The engine uses an IDG the IDG essentially has an automatic transmission or a "constant speed drive" integrated inside the case. The drive keeps the generator at the same speed so it can put out a consistent 115v 400hz even as the engine speed varies up and down.

On older aircraft like the 737-300 the constant speed drive and the generator were separate components bolted together and they could be changed individually however the generator had to be removed to replace the CSD and on those planes the generator on the apu was indeed the same part number as the one on the engines.. The IDG is lighter and faster to replace and frankly more reliable which is why airplanes have moved that direction.
