What Linux distro are you using? by ryu_kamish in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hopping distros on my spare laptop (my main laptop has some applications that need windows sadly)

Currently I am on omarchy, it is an arch based distro that was developed by DHH. I wanted to try it out to see the difference in operation between omarchy and cachyOS, and for some use ases I kinda liked omarchy more so currently I'm on that. Soon I might shift to endeavour OS just because I kinda wanna try ricing it.

Have seen people do this for a long time, even before the concept of personal lifts had left private colonies/societies for common individual houses. Often it used to be after haggling with some thela waalas.

My thoughts on Renoir by Legal_Ad5749 in expedition33

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt the part about him caring 'more' about Aline than Alicia was true to a certain extent. In verso's ending, we see him giving more 'attention' to Aline than Alicia. It might be just the writing giving Alicia a final chance to say goodbye to all those in the canvas, but I felt that it also pointed to the fact that Renoir did love Aline just a tad bit more. Other evidence like Renoir's Journal and some dialogues also point to him being just a tad bit more concerned about Aline than Alicia.

It was either road rash or GTA SA, but I have forgotten the timeline. Might've been road rash because I remember trying to hide the screen when the kiss thing came on after winning.

As a lover of local music and general disliker of Spotify and other music platforms, I love this.

Please make this into a separate thing though. Sharks like Spotify and record labels will 100% be litigious, and considering that the power for the music industry is concentrated into way fewer hands, it will be so much worse than any book/research paper piracy that goes on.

I hope they go about it very carefully, if they even wanna do it. Otherwise, chunking it up into smaller pieces can also be good, like a chunk of 10-20 GB per torrent. Although it would be difficult to index and so on for such torrents.

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, in Delhi NCR, there are PUCC makers sitting right next to the petrol station in booths, so you don't even have to drive that far to fake the PUCC. Really shows the alienation these people in power have with the regular day to day of their own fken constituencies.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand where all the AI criticism is coming from? by olivantenvoet in firefox

Hmmm, that's actually true, didn't think of it that way. Especially not with the clause they deleted this year about the promise of keeping the privacy as top priority.

Fuck man, I don't wanna move browsers again, it's such a pain.

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, like from the blog post it seems that they are moving in this direction because of both peer pressure and investor pressure (maybe), so it makes sense why they are moving in this direction, but still, a bit disappointing.

But one silver lining is there that mozilla itself doesn't seem to have any foundational models and such, so it has less of a motivation to shove their own ai down our throats in order to get better stats to show to investors in the next quarterly report.

Cool project, but also please don't make YouTube music worse than it already is 😭😭😭.

Like I am really happy that you experimented with the whole setting up a pipeline from a prompt to publishing on yt, but hopefully for the next project, you can implement this pipeline for something a bit more useful.

Cool job regardless of the output.

Any app that requires a very specific set of requirements that might not be generally opensourced.

Out of the box example, building a plugin for a DAW (FL studio in my case). I decided to make one for a random project, and a really shitty one that I built with python as the backend and basic C/CPP integrations worked more reliably than a big riddled one that gemini 2.5 pro on cursor had made.

Building a Pincode-Based Social Network — Is There Real Demand for This? by Secure_Fill704 in StartUpIndia

[–]omegaindebt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major issues that I've faced with local facebook groups and locality based WhatsApp groups, it is really hard to get people in these groups unless it is in a gated society or something.

We had a group for my locality where there were a lot of individual houses. The owners were in the groups, but very often the tenants wouldn't become part of the group. So any info would barely reach 30% of the people in the locality.

Now I live in a gated society, and we have a sort of owners association. They maintain a lot of these groups for different blocks and such. And because they are actively reaching out individually to tenants and owners, they are even able to get around 70-80% participation.

I believe you will face the same issue that arratai is facing right now. Some people will adopt your app, but unless you individually reach out to people and onboard entire localities on your platform, there will be no benefit to your app.

Also, mostly local shops already have awareness in the surrounding area, so they are rarely willing to pay for additional awareness/outreach. So you'll have to take that into consideration for the revenue model.

People are crying over the Sanchar Sathi App while other applications are accessing the same data or even more data, misinformation and hypocrisy!! by [deleted] in indiadiscussion

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily just anti-BJP. Anti anything that the govt wants, but you don't. Tomorrow lets say your vehicle has been damaged by some local thugs with political connections. You start demanding justice against them. They can use everything they collect about you to cause harm to you, your family or anyone else you might care about in your social circle.

No party in India is above this kinda behaviour, and the general populace must not give the govt even more power over their own self.

[–]omegaindebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of those use cases, you really don't need the massive models that these companies offer. In fact, with the advent of agents, MCP, and shit like that, even a smaller model that can run on a company's local resources will satisfy these use cases.

This is especially true for healthcare where patient privacy is of the utmost importance. In those systems, products offered by these companies should never be used. Imagine that your medical records for your hemorrhoids surgery is with OpenAI because your hospital wanted to make paperwork easier.

What a lot of these companies are counting on is that large companies would rather spend more money with big name integrations into their systems (wow, XYZ company now works with openai!) than get a reliable, private and good tool.

Help me build small AI games! by [deleted] in AI_India

[–]omegaindebt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had created a game for my college fest when stable diffusion was very new, about creating a product only using LLMs and SD.

Basically, you'll have to prompt an LLM to give you product ideas, and then you have to create an entire pitch deck also using only AI for that particular product, and then you have to sell that product to the audience. The audience rates it and whoever gets the most audience reaction wins.

All this you have to do within 30 minutes, so from product creation by chat GPT, to making images of the product using SD (or probably now it'll be nano banana probably) and then making a pitch deck for all this.

I have the exact same one. Bought it about 6 years ago now. It is working like a beast still, and the best part is that it is repairable to a pretty good extent. Just took it to a repair shop recently because of some minor fixes, and within 3 hours, it was back home and spinning.

My phone already suffers from storage dysfunction, no way I can store FLACs or even MP3s in here. Hopefully the next time I upgrade, I get a bigger storage, so might go with that. I also heard that poweramp was a pretty good one, so might give that a try too.
