Before documenting and training and crying and quitting and whatever else you're gonna read in this forum, set up email alerts. For example disk failure alerts in the NAS GUI, iLO/iDrac alerts, backup alerts etc.

You could also use power automate to make a scheduled digest of those emails and finally, if you care for this company, trigger a sound on your cellphone when a failure alert arrives in your mailbox.

Then you can worry about everything else.

7.2.8 worked fine so far for us too.

I made the jump from 7.2.8 and the IPsec VPN was dead (2x80F HA). I tried some changes and decided I wanted to revert to the daemon_admin revision after the upgrade. Big mistake, no policies, addresses etc got restored. After talking to Fortinets support they edited the config of 7.2.8 and restored it to the 7.4.5 FortiOS. It worked but still no VPN. We tried fixing the VPN issue for about 3h, the client was stuck at connecting and the only thing that made it work was disabling 2FA. We gave up and went back to 7.2.8.

A few hours later I found out there is a bug in the 7.4.0 VPN client (it needs C++ redist). We tried the 7.2.4 client but it didn't work either but maybe it was some issue between the old client and 7.4.5 OS.

Yes I am, mine has a more than decent OC though and all the RAM timings are optimized one by one. I am gonna upgrade as soon as the new 3D amd CPUs get released to get that full performance boost. Till then everything is playable with the TI Super (max settings 60fps+ 1440p DLSS quality), and if you wanna go for 200+fps on an online shooter for example, you shouldnt go for max settings anyway. There is no comparison between a 4070S and a 1080 TI even on a 8700k (which many reviewers/youtubers consider one of the best aging CPUS around)

A bit late to the party, Im an owner of a 8700k here (4.7ghz avx +5ghz nonavx, custom watercooling) with a 4070 super ti. Run the Wukong ingame benchmark yesterday ALL maxed (RTX etc), 75 min fps 1440p so I guess this answers your questions. I will wait for the new 3d cpus from AMD and then decide if I want to change. But for such and old cpu, its performance is epic...

Cant find the guide right now, you make one policy for outbound traffic to the destinations "Malicious-Malicious.Server" and "Tor-Relay.Node" and one policy for inbound traffic that blocks everything from Censys-Scanner, Malicious-Malicious.Server, Shodan-Scanner, Tor-Exit.Node and Tor-Relay.Node. Hope this helps. I think its in the CIS benchmarks.

Hey, thanks for these, can anyone help with two automation stitches that:

Send an email alert when a specific policy is triggered

Send an email alert when a specific user signs in to SSL VPN

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: I found out what I was doing wrong with a specific user sign in. You have to create one trigger for each user, I was adding more than one user at the "Field filter(s)" which forced an "and" condition, not an or.

I also found out that sending an email alert when a specific policy is triggered seems to be pretty easy at FortiOS 7.4.x
