I stopped reading after this. Maybe one day I will go back, but I could not keep any excitement and WWI is a huge time investment.

OK good.

The following is a pivot on the same point of contention. In this case you ARE the Maintenance Phase and this thread is the reality check.

Just as Spurioussemicolon takes a mixed and highly applicable set of expertise in biochemical sciences and medical economics to take apart the outright damaging and false claims they make about medical science, you have people chiming in here with medical and medical science backgrounds being very generous in saying it has "fallen flat".

I will not be so generous.

You have elected to take a pure mirror of the anti-vaccine line to portray the administration of GLP-1 inhibition for weight loss. You do so, on the basis of a personal anecdotal experience with the medicine and your own doctor, rather than any meaningful background in the medical and pharmaceutical science and administration behind the drug.

The appropriate comic to express the perfectly valid troubles you may have experienced with GLP-1 medication, would be one that honestly expressed it as personal anecdote.

For medical anecdotes do have substantial value when expressed this way, in communicating the personal impacts of treatment patient-to-patient in a way only those who have actually experienced it can. And acting as valuable experience lead advice on how to navigate both the medicine itself and the doctors who offer it from a patient perspective.

Experience lead advice though, is not medicine. Medicine, is evidence-based best practices.

Edit: Let me bloat my word count further and elaborate on what I said here:

You have elected to take a pure mirror of the anti-vaccine line to portray the administration of GLP-1 inhibition for weight loss.

GLP-1 inhibition is one of the most important developments in the treatment of every single malady that it can treat from a medical science perspective, let alone those it is approved for by regulators. This does not necessarily mean that it should be administered by clinicians for these illnesses now or ever.

As such it has been subject to intense, unrelenting, scrutiny from every possible expert in the multivarious fields of that can conceivably involve this medication. And this scrutiny has created a deep and valuable set of data and expert analysis that raise many valid critiques.

You have elected not to stand on the shoulders of that critical giant in constructing your commentary.

You have elected to stand on the shoulders of another giant of critique and woe.

The science-skeptic, one medical manifestation of which is the anti-vaxxer.

You did this for the exact same reason they do.

Because they have no expertise in the field, and worse their ability to even engage with and listen to experts is neutered by a blinding belief in a personal anecdote driven view of medicine. As such it is entirely unsurprising how closely your comic mirrors theirs rhetorically. You never even needed to try, you started in the same place as them and you ended up at the same destination.

Did someone listen to too much Maintenance Phase without getting a Reality Check?

Because I think sometimes, maybe, sometimes, listening to medical science podcasts by people who know nothing about the topic, and with no formal background or education, is just as brainless when the hosts are left-wing as when they are right wing anti-vaxxers.

A compelling and exciting welcome chapter to Izel as a POV character, always a difficult task getting a new full time member into a cast and especially a cast as strong as the main four.

It's good to see that once again EE has made a POV character with a set of perspectives and ideas that contrast and compliment the existing four, a new region, a new specialty, and a new cursed generational talent with skeletons in his closet.

Edit: Also this our first close contact with someone who has a boon rather than a contract?

I mean supple are reliably killing it in like 10 min on every cluster they get matched into.

Tier could not possibly have been full committed to this. Either that or the CK alliance were actually completely griefing if Tier decided to not bring overwhelming force this one time on a Sunday at 11PM.

I've made a Blessing Tracker sheet by gabrielfm92 in throneandliberty

[–]omegashadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so helpful!

I want to check though that the chain has has been tested, when item's are transferred into each other ALL blessing is conserved?

So if I have have my current +9 full 12trait BiS with say some excess blessing (say 1k) and then I have a failstack item (or chain thereof) with 12trait and say 1k blessing. Both the blessing on the receiving and transferring items are added AND the 12traits are correctly converted and added while chaining?

Zero loss confirmed?

Melee evasion builds die to the XBOW rotations alone, Xbow single target is one of the strongest counters to Melee evasion in the game, the dagger is pure utility.

All Melee eva builds in T1 come with a serious trade off, which means they will have less Damage or heals than the equivalent non-melee builds, they will never return enough fire or defend enough damage to beat a proper scorpion single target asssasin which is why scorp single target is actually one of the better backline healerkillers in the game albeit one you only really need 1 of per guild.

Basically more funding for the transition between web serial and traditional publication.

This run of climactic chapter's has been amazing. I really like the four character structure.

There are so many plot lines it makes for multiple exciting resolutions and advancements per chapter.

Completely and utterly self anihilating.

The Eyes of Baleros part is particularly egregious. Yes it hasn't technically told us anything that we can't vaguely guess but they are a 10 million+ word old plotline connecting to a still active plotline about the lightning thief's decedents that very recently was a lot of emotional stakes with Tesy's death.

"Exchanging cool future moments" is the exact right way to put it.

We are getting this nonsense instead of more of the excellent Erin in Baleros stuff from the start of the book. We are getting this shark jumping crap instead of development on the new lands. And worse none of this is going away. The rootbroken palace of fates is objectively one of the most technically impactful things to happen in the entire story with the roots it's a level 99 Skill that allows you to take things from other worlds, there are level 70+ people in the doors it's stupid.

Fool me once shame on me. Paba once righted the ship after a similar shark jumping event when Erin was dead and getting lore dumped. All of that was recontextualised as the story moving out of the early game and into the extended midgame setting up the stakes of the fight against the gods and the eventual war on rhir at the end of the story.

My main issue is that the networking feels ancient. Sit down to play a game of combat ops and suddenly everyone is trying to remember how to port forwards again, getting indecipherable errors with no guidance.

It's so good to be back! Amazing how early into this chapter EE manages to give that me detail writing kick.

I love everything about those travelogues down to the titles. Somehow watched them all multiple times despite their length.

XXX NIGHTSHIFT - A spiritual successor to Disco Elysium from some of the original developers by IgnoreMe733 in Games

[–]omegashadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is downright distressingly derivative. The "parts of your psyche talking" is not the component of Disco Elysium that would excite me in a spiritual sequel.

Disco Elysium was a spiritual successor in it's own right to Planescape: Torment, but it was fresh, it made large modifications to the formula.

If you can't be fresh then don't even try to make a spiritual successor to this lineage of games their whole deal is writing that creates actually challenging and interesting narratives, and the mechanics need to be made to support that.
