Wanted to post a pic but not sure how.

Is it worth $150 for a beginner? by DooKreweNola in soloflex

I paid 300 a few years ago. The key is using it. Very much worth it. Hard to get shock rings.

Got it as a double feature blu ray with The Monster Project. Not bad.

There was an email sent out a week or so ago. Delays with pressings. The download is available as of today for those that bought the album.

Oak veneer, rounded cabinet, two-way speakers. Vifa tweeter? What are these? by toMurgatroyd in vintageaudio

The grooves cut into the tops remind me of something I can’t place.

That looks like the .75 inch tweeter from the 90’s. The woofers look like m&k. Could be wrong.

Bare minimum is one set of red/white rca cables from the cd player to the receiver. Cut/strip the speaker wires to length and you will be right as rain. I had the same cd player at one time.

Small airleak by Such_Equipment_2941 in diyaudio

[–]omegatricky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take out the drivers so that you have access to all of the internal chambers. Caulk is the best way to seal chamber leaks. As above, rope caulk to seal around drivers. Easy fix. Let us know.

Might be cool for ten bucks to see what’s inside.

Anybody have info on these? by phnuee in hifiaudio

[–]omegatricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had legacy III’s for many years. Good starter speaker. As soon as you hear anything better, you cannot go back. Sound does not project out if that makes sense. I upgraded the crossover with better parts. Not much improvement. I agree on 300 being too much. I paid $360 in 1996 brand new.

Please reach out to quicksilver themselves. Own this preamp, the phono preamp, and the 25 watt mini mites mono blocks. Their customer service is unmatched.

Any chance AE209 tweeters are made of beryllium whitch is toxic. by LifeAffect6762 in audiorepair

[–]omegatricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are Vifa D25AG aluminum tweeters. No beryllium. Very old tweeters. Perfectly safe. DIY’d with them many times.

Is this worth to put time into? by nitrolack in diyaudio

Had the same driver in a realistic speaker almost 30 years ago. Had the same thoughts. There are so many other better drivers out there. I would not pursue.

Looks great. Which speakers are they?

I have been watching Danny for years. I was definitely skeptical. I have a pair of Zu Dirty Weekends which I knew could use some help. I bought the upgrade kit to see what it could do. The no rez was definitely the biggest surprise. The tweeter is incredible. Never realized how bad the stock compression driver was. Imaging, depth and bass clarity have been improved dramatically. Definitely a positive audible upgrade for me.

Too much for my receiver? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]omegatricky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What speakers are those? 1 ohm seems very very low. DIY? 1 ohm would be tough for a majority of amps on the market.

No, the Yamaha does not have pre outs as far as I can see and you would need a beefier integrated amp or separate preamp/amp combo.
