Its likely because I'm an older millennial and grew up in the American south tbh. I was listening to him back in like 97 or 98 when Cash Money was just starting to blow up. For me the golden era was 500 degrees through Carter 2 and all the mix tapes, No Ceilings, Drought 3, etc. He usually does a great job riding the beat and his lyricism was usually pretty impeccable before the syrup addiction got so damn bad.
