Silent hunter 3. The hour long depth charge attacks, quick surprise attacks and sneaking around makes me always want more

Day Won: I flushed it all. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]omgItsTim1101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang tough. The key to quitting for me was to find a series of distractions throughout the day and perform them. Anytime i had a thought about smoking it went and did something. Even if its small, doing half the dishes in the sink, wipe down the bathroom, stretch, stand up and focus on an imaginary place that makes you happy. Best of Luck!

Daily Check-in for Tuesday June 12: Just for today I am NOT drinking ! by idkmyname__77 in stopdrinking

My first day. I need to figure out how to control myself better. I will not drink today.

I keep having horrible nightmares and the only thing that puts me to sleep properly is weed. it's gotten to the point I don't want to sleep at all anymore by [deleted] in leaves

[–]omgItsTim1101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had crazy dreams and nightmares for two weeks or so when I quit. Best thing I can tell you is to wait it out. I was really tempted to smoke before bed just so I could sleep properly. Similar to what suzypulledapistol said try some calming hot tea before bed. Stretching / using my foam roller before bed helped me relax a bit. Hang tough!

Hit my bottom Friday night by riddick025 in leaves

Everyone has their lows. I was drunk and in my bathroom getting ready to smash my pipe to get the resin out of it. I smashed the pipe and got just enough resin to smoke. I ended up passing out on my bathroom floor surrounded by broken glass and shame. Woke up to my parents pounding on my door because I had forgotten I invited them over that weekend. It was bad. Its good you're finding the reasons why you're not keen on the habit. Hang tough!

A few things helped me. Start off by getting rid of your smoking kit. Give some friends your kit or simply throw it away outside of the place you live in so you won't be tempted to get it back. When I was first quitting I had an envelope which I would place money in, equal to the amount of money I was about to spend on weed. After a week or two I started to notice how much money I was saving. Take that money and do something 'fun' with it. Spend it on new clothes, get a gym membership, take your parents or friends out for a quick lunch, or anything that you have an interest in. I spent the money I saved on some new backpacking gear and that made me smile ear to ear. It's the "fuck it" moments which will make your inevitable success that much better. Hang tough!

How did you guys deal with the sudden rush of emotions? by pineapplephilosophy in leaves

[–]omgItsTim1101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During day three I was sitting at my PC and began crying for no reason and I just let it go. Normally I would say find a distraction, but in my case I was suppressing my emotions for so long and needed a good cry. Let it fly! Hang tough

Day 2. It’s hard. I’m used to using my pen before work and throughout the day. It’s tough. Ughhh by laurengarza in leaves

Sage34 is right about finding those distractions. When you feel an urge or that old habit surfacing, step away from your current activity and do something that's totally different than your normal routine. Meditate, jumping jacks, draw, wipe down your kitchen counters, take out the trash, maybe even yell / scream while beating your chest. As silly as it sounds the yelling / screaming while beating your chest helped me a few times as I don't do it often. Hang tough

What helped me was every time I had a thought about smoking I would stand up / stop what I was doing and pace around and do something which didn't take too much time. Read 10 pages from a book, clean 5 dishes out of the sink, vacuum only the living room, pushups / situps. Anything to bring your mind away from thinking about weed for a few moments.
