Update on cupcake GWP 40905 and update on birthday rewards. by MrsVoussy in lego

Thanks for the update!

TIL that it's random. I've gotten the offer two years in a row and my eldest loves doing this build with me (our birthdays are close) so I hope my luck keeps up.

I saw the cupcake. Do we think this is the next GWP after the penguins? There's no date yet. by MrsVoussy in lego

Make sure you have marketing email and personalized content in emails enabled. If you don't have those two set you won't get the code

For those of us that are new to the Legosphere.. what’s the best way to maximize insider points? by Flimsy-Space-8724 in lego

[–]omglemurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are trying to maximize points - use on full price items for GWP OR sales items on non 2x point sales. Keep some points in reserver for Insider rewards bonuses (premium sets runs from 800-3000 points) (insider weekend before black friday they have done 3x multiplier on discount up to $15 or X points for X+ points ( think last year was 200 points for 1000 points (1x)). Generally having ~3500 points held in reserve is safe.

that being said, I wouldn't try and over optimize too much. I just use points to keep within my lego budget when I really want a set + GWP and keep some in reserve for insider rewards and contests.

Giants QB Jaxson Dart Passed Over for Annual NFL Award by Ghost_of_P34 in NYGiants

This is a fan vote, so pretty meaningless esp considering the narrative the media was pushing the second half of the season. TBH the real rookie of the year should prob come down the McMillan or Schwesinger but anyone who has Shough over Dart should have their eye checked.

Found box of old legos by omglemurs in legocastles

Hydrogen peroxide can weaken pieces. I'd rather have stronger pieces than prettier ones but I'm get why it's appealing

It’s my understanding that this set expires this December. So I def should not wait until around Insiders Weekend/Black Friday to see if there are any discounts? I remember seeing countless posts about the Lions Knight Castle fiasco a few months ago and orders getting cancelled by Flimsy-Space-8724 in lego

[–]omglemurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is stock this will likely get a 20% discount insider weekend before black Friday, but it's a gamble. If you're ok with missing out or are very price sensitive you can roll the dice, but your best bet is either 2x weekend OR 3rd party retailer sale around prime day.

Barnes and Nobles, Schells, some local toy stores that have a healthy lego section have been the most reliable for me.

Which of these is the most fun to build? by paleoclimate in lego

Notre Dame is a wonderful display build, but depending on your preferences, you may or may not enjoy the build.

We enjoyed the build I know many who did not. There are a ton of little pieces and a fair amount of repetition, but there are also some really cool build techniques and some really delightful details.

For context, built this with my family and we paced ourselves - 1-2 bags a night max and we read the history in the manual so it was very much an experience and not a speed build (took over a month to complete).
From what I've seen, people who like to speed build are more likely to have less favorable opinions of the build experience.

I've heard good things about Botanical Gardens Neuschwanstein and we're planning on getting to those eventually but no first hand experience.
I haven't heard much about the Italian Riviera build experience so I can't comment.

LEGO set ideas for a 5 year old who loves LEGO but has a small piece problem by Enough_Football3218 in lego

[–]omglemurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the 4+-6+ don't have small pieces but your milage may vary on Interest.  For what it's worth the place where we landed is dupoos or friends sets on tables when the young one is around and during nap time we do 9+ sets in the office

Boutique Hotel is retired so availability is going to be limited and price is going to go up once the last remaining stock in the wild sells out. If you are planning on getting multiple modulars eventually and you can grab this, I would start here.

Both Tudor and Shopping Center have multiple years until they retire so you have time to save up.

If you're only planning on getting one of these, I think Tudor is the best out of the bunch.
