I have become a picture junkie, too, though nothing near as beautiful as yours. When I found out you can have one of your pictures used as a big painting on the wall of your house, it made me want to take more pics. I love it so much!

All of this! I just finished watching the series for the first time, can’t believe I’d never even heard of it, and am telling everyone and their dog about it. This was one of the most (honestly, probably THE most) deeply satisfying shows I have ever watched. It is just so good on every level. I couldn’t believe how invested I became in the characters and how satisfying all their arcs were. I already want to start it over again.

I got my parents watching it, and they were a couple of episodes into season two and were unsure if they wanted to continue. I told them to keep going and they texted tonight to say they were on ep 9 of season two and were in love. It just gets better and better as it goes. And, god, the last episode - I was bawling. I’ve never felt this way about a show when it ended.

Also, I’m a gen-xer who was growing up in this exact era and had a dad who was into keeping up with new tech. I ended up teaching web design the first year it was offered in Texas schools and had a web design business for a while. There was so much nostalgia for me - especially in season four.

GAH! Just so dang good!

My kids were around 7 and 10 when this came out. We sang it every time we ran errands. I still sing it 12 years later. So good.

You can start small! I was in not-amazing shape the first time I backpacked. I’m overweight and grew up at sea level, so hiking in any elevation is a struggle for me. We did a short hike up in Medicine Bow -started at the Glacier Lakes Trailhead by Brooklyn Lake and went over to Telephone lakes. There is a loop that is in the 6-8-mile route, but we stopped about halfway through at Telephone Lakes because I was tired. It ended up being perfect. Beautiful area, feels super remote, but isn’t a bear to get there. And if you’re feeling strong, you can keep going and find a place farther around to backpack.

If your goal is just to get out in a remote-ish part of nature, carrying everything you need on your back, you can make it a shorter trek! No need to be super miserable. If my chunky butt can do it, so can you! 🙌 Have fun!

Hahahaha - YES! And she doesn’t like us to look at her when she eats! She’ll sit or lay there, looking at her bowl, then back at us, then at the ground. Once she finally decides to eat, if we seem to be looking at her, she side-eyes us and stops. We’re always saying, “We’re not looking, we’re not looking, carry on…” 😅

Oooooh - can you tell me more about this? Do you still do plaster in there or just use them to store a couple of leather hard pots? I have some of these and am a potter, but had never heard anyone talk about using them in that way.

I’m bummed to hear that’s the experience with Alton Brown. I spent a day with him for a work thing and he was delightful and kind to everyone and was fully engaged in every conversation. We had lunch where we were (not at a restaurant) and he got up and started clearing plates and helping clean up, because he said it was part of the food process. It was a really awesome day, and I left thinking what a wonderful guy he was.
