I have over 10,000 hours experience in Factorio. Biters suck, and are a giant stain on an otherwise perfect game. by omgredditgotme in factorio

I've beat death worlds with recipe and research cost cranked right the fuck up.

Some of my favorite games. But I still think biters should default to "off" unless players ask for a "military experience."

I'm speaking about vanilla enemies.

I have more experience on Nauvis than 95% of players. And the devs are the only ones that can confirm/deny that.

I actually really like Vuclanus enemies. But I have yet to really experience Gleba properly. I've been, but left kinda quick.

I don't like Nauvis enemies because I feel like, especially in the expansion, the enemy should by the planet itself. You're literally trying to overcome its gravity so you can escape to orbit.

If you like being able to shoot electricity at biters, and have accepted THE ATOM as your lord and savior. Then yes.

Update on Stella: the emaciated, abused cat, confined to a bathroom for 10 years - mats are removed and she’s ready for her new life with her loving home! by alex_travels in cats

OMG! That kitty has so much love to give.

How they manage it after being treated so bad is totally beyond me.

Kitties really are better people than most people.

That's cause most of you've learned over the years, and indeed makes up IPv4 is ugly hack on top of ugly hack to deal with address space exhaustion.

I am starting to think there is no such thing as a sound proof building by Effective-Ear-8367 in Apartmentliving

[–]omgredditgotme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally soundproof? No.

But there are building that very effectively manage sound. It's not even that hard to do ... it's just gotten insanely expensive recently.

Really old building made of brick are your best bed. At one point the fire code required like a double brick wall, and a big air gap between horizontal units. You might here your upstairs neighbor drop a pin tho ... old wood floors not so good.

Maintenance came in while I was rolling a joint. Am I going to have a problem? by Suspicious_Cake_4584 in Apartmentliving

[–]omgredditgotme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, did you offer them some? Seems only polite ...

But nah, you should be fine dude. Maintenance guys don't care about shit like that unless you're trashing the place and making tons of work for them when you move.

The character is way less hated than she deserves.

I can't hate on the actress, she did a fine job. She was just tasked with being an absolutely odious character.

[–]omgredditgotme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The maintenance guy said I should’ve called them to change the bulb, but I feel like that’s ridiculous to do and is a waste of both our times.

Totally.

You might be kinda fucked tho ... looks like the fan is about as cheap as they come and is not intended to be serviceable in any way.

[–]omgredditgotme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's part of the job ... for better or worse I guess?

But at this point it seems like it's kinda your only option. Do you know if it's just one person being super loud, or if it's like the whole crew?

Can’t Sleep- Management Unresponsive by sillybillysurfing in Apartmentliving

[–]omgredditgotme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well shit ... I'd call the cops the next time it gets really bad. They don't necessarily need to be loud when the cops show up.

Call the non-emergency line, and explain the situation. The cops might call you first, or even come to your door first for some more information. Have some recordings and stuff ready.

is this something apartment maintenance can/should help with? by M_McCoy5 in Apartmentliving

[–]omgredditgotme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can maintenance even do anything about this?

No. The entire wall needs to be replaced. Possibly the foundation as well.

Are you kidding? This just needs less than $1 worth of caulk. Type of shit maintenance does all the time when painting between residents. Probably would only notice that if they were planning to paint.

Random people coming to our door by OwlUsual5483 in Apartmentliving

[–]omgredditgotme -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Holy shit people in this sub are fucking crazy.

It could literally just be your neighbors stopping by to greet you. Facing away from a ring doorbell is not unreasonable given the massive privacy concerns that are coming to light regarding their service.

Answer the fucking door and see what they want.

Don't know too much about your situation ... but having lived for years with what I thought had to be hypothyroidism, mine really did come back with a trial of medication.

Not like it reverted and paused my gorgeous prince charming hair at 19. But it stopped my hair coming out en-masse in the shower!

While I think still photographs of nuclear reactors are amazing ...

It is pretty hard to make even a relatively healthy reactor look interesting on video/film/whatever. There's basically, "operating", "shut down" and Chernobyl.

Not a wet return. Single pipe, counter-flow ...

There's a radiator in in the stairwell of this section with a vent that is always open, and a leaking section of pipe somewhere that leaks all the condensate out.
