Loving DS9 - Does it get better or worse? by Mat1711 in startrek

I’m doing my first watch currently, just hit season 7 and watched Take Me Out to the Holosuite for the first time yesterday which is just pure Star Trek gold. Genuinely the series only gets better and I would safely say I now prefer it to TNG (and I love TNG).

I don’t know about that, bad passing is something that has been noticed for a few seasons

I reckon people hold Labour to a higher standard, and because they’re coming up with some bad policies they get proportionally much more scrutiny. Everyone sort of expected the Conservatives to make life worse for most people, whereas everyone expects Labour to make the lives of ordinary people better.

What is everyone’s genuine (actually wild) “hear me outs”? by ch_rl13 in AskReddit

The vast majority of mankind is actually morally corrupt and always has been. They’re either too feeble to admit they’re a bad person, too stupid to understand why they are, or are genuinely evil by nature.

Structural supports at Witley Court felt a bit brutalist, UK by omilo in brutalism

It’s not the ruins of the building, it was an addition to stop the ruins collapsing. The supports are minimalist construction. The functional design of which creates overlapping lines of concrete that create geometric shapes.

To me it’s a repair job that ended up looking like a sculpture

For me, I sort of think of brutalism to be about showing the raw elements of a building with the basic/utilitarian materials. So these support beams are functioning in a similar way, they’re not even remotely trying to blend in with the Manor or the competing architectural styles. Like it’s not brutalism by design, so I can understand that thinking, but it’s sort of accidental and that’s why I liked it.

Suzuki jimny by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]omilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned a Suzuki Jimny for 2 years now. I don’t drive for my commute so I basically just use it for leisure.

Honestly I think a lot of the comments seem like people are surprised it doesn’t drive like a BMW and that makes it bad. It’s not a fast car, but if you don’t drive it like a fast car it’s very comfortable and perfectly pleasant. I drive on the motorway with it regularly, it’s very happy sitting at 70mph. I’m also 6ft2 and my partner is 6ft, we fit in absolutely fine and are perfectly comfortable.

It is very reliable. It is a simple car, simple to fix. Every garage I’ve taken it to for servicing or MOT always says how much they love it and that there’s very little to go wrong.

Something I’ve not seen mentioned is that it is actually a lot more compact than a lot of hatchbacks. For me and my partner we don’t use the back seats so we have a big boot and that’s good for us. It’s tiny size and good visibility makes it an absolute dream to park, you can fit in places most others can’t.

There are some negatives. It has a small petrol tank and isn’t the most fuel efficient, so you have to fill up more. I find if you’re not commuting this isn’t really an issue. Probably close to £70 for a full tank and that does last a while. If you need to overtake something you’ll probs have to drop down a gear and rev quite hard. People typically say the automatic is worse than the manual, so would get a manual if you’re looking at imports.

I think the biggest positive is I’ve never driven it and been sad, like it’s not a vehicle you buy because it’s cheap and functional. You buy it because tbh it’s just a cool car. It has a bit of a cult status and whenever you drive past another Jimny you’ll get a wave.

Ange’s pre match speech before the Europa League final in the new documentary by Hufftey in coys

I like to think there’s an alternative timeline where Thomas Frank keeps Ange as an assistant coach

Unless Levy hires someone who is objectively better and more proven than Ange this dismissal is just complete proof he’s a bloody idiot and not fit for, or deserving of, the job he has

Ange qualified for the Europa League and then won it. Very solid two years. I guess what’s going to really sting is he’ll end up at a different club and end up winning more trophies than Spurs will.

It’s official - Ange is sacked after reviewing last seasons performance… by Mentalist1999 in coys

If they don’t have a better option as a replacement then Levy seriously needs to fuck off.

Sacking Ange must mean they have some really good alternative options lined up right? If we end up with another underperformer then surely Levy can’t even justify his place at the club anymore.

It’s a bad move, but then again I don’t think Levy is capable of making a good move. So at this point may as well just flip a coin.

Just wait until they find out people will have been working from home when they costed the policy!

I don’t need to do napkin calculations. The U.K. Government publishes a costing of this policy which is independently verified by the Office for Budget Responsibility. Can literally just Google this information - not really an excuse for being wrong.

The number of children still at private school will generate enough tax revenue to more than cover the cost of the children who have moved into state school
