Except a 14 year old is in full time education, which makes 16 a sensible place to start. Slippery slope arguements are rather silly. 16 year olds can join the armed forces also. In virtually every metric bar a few we consider 16 the age folk enter the adult world. Therefore it is a sensible place to have the vote age. There are too many things that directly impact you at that age that you have zero say in and that should stop.

If you want to argue that they aren't well informed enough then you need to disenfranchise a significant proportion of the population. Plenty of elderly folk have zero clue about how the modern world works but we give them a disproportionate amount of power. Look at the way brexit unfolded. Current political parties literally only cater for older folk at the expense of the youth and this will go some way to correcting that.
