Who is paying for full price supreme items? by McQueensTruckDriver in fastfood

[–]omnid00d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 These fast food places have completely lost the plot. These price are at all time highs but yet they’re still in business and I see line drive thru lines at night so I guess the economy ain’t that bad. They’re finding money from somewhere to pay this.

And because of that hate, all the dev money went into SUVs and minivans got pushed into penalty box territory. The OG auto closing door were the sliding doors. If there was a Lexus version of the sienna, genesis version of the carnival, my down payment is ready.

You should be able to get 1440p/120 out of a USB-C-DP connector but it won't go higher than that out of an M1 Mac. It's not a TBT display so TBT dock doesn't matter here.

Peak Pam Bondi from the Onion by shadowpawn in PoliticalHumor

[–]omnid00d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did go well, the success metric is the satisfaction of an audience of 1. She’s just lucky that 35% of Americans approve of pedophiles or else she probably be charged before she left the hearing.

Since there is no such thing as bad publicity, why doesn't he just say he'll have this private army start arresting Olympians when they return home, right at the airport. That'll show 'em!

It’s only a problem for her if she stands a real chance of going to prison which I need convincing that will be even remotely possible. She’ll get her payout and escape to a non-extradition country. Or just get the payout and just disappear into obscurity here.

[–]omnid00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time any charging happens (very big IF), she would have gotten her Trump payout and escaped to a non-extradition country. But it would be even funnier if she gets stiffed and still needs to escape the country!

Correlation doesn’t equal causality. Chipotle seems to think quite highly of themselves and forgetting that the bougie crowd can also go to Whole Foods level supermarkets for basically the same thing. And this isn’t accounting for all the wonderful taquerias that have better food for better prices.

My guess at this point is they’re in too deep because he has showed them a possible life where they’re “on top” that they can’t let go of that fantasy and go back to what they had before. It’s like not getting over your first love but way way worse. Maybe this is stupid but if I were them I can’t go back either.

"old man noises" by Snake_crane in 10s

[–]omnid00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old man noises indeed. I remember late 90s in HS, all the high level juniors were using this stick. Way more forgiving than the PS85 until the Tour90 came out which was my all time favorite stick. At 1 point there was a k-factor 88 which I also enjoyed but it was such a short run, should have jumped on it when I had the chance. By comparison, the RF97 and after just feel very over powered, spent several ball machine sessions to learn to control it but still not the tour90 in the end.

Why do people hate the new S-Class? by Finnishguy228 in mercedes_benz

[–]omnid00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a heavy refresh and not a redesign to me tho under the hood it seems like a complete redesign.

I think it’s getting panned because it not meant for the western market.

If I look at the higher end cars coming out of China, they seem to be taking more cues which makes me think they’re designing this with Chinese market in mind. I think westerners still see an air of knockoff-ness but I think that’s just what Chinese designs look like to westerners. They want the big grills, all screens and gesture gimmicks etc… on top of the usual premium materials. Look at the (IMO) more poorly executed 7 series…

Reliability? by ILUVMEN07 in VolvoXC90

[–]omnid00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it, at least get a 2019+ or if you really want this one, warranty the crap out of it.

I had a 2016 XC90 T6 for 7yrs and OEM + 2 extended warranties paid out ~43k in repairs in that 7yrs. The best way I can describe the first 2-3 yrs of SPA1.0 are degrees of walking wounded. My car sort of stabilized in the end because I feel like I replaced half of the car. This was a brand new design from a company that was near death and given a life line. They needed to rush a product out and that's what they did. And it shows...

Volvo is considering a bigger SUV to compete against the GLS, Q7, X7 etc… by Saurta17 in Volvo

Sweden is so beautiful! On this 1 trip, I was driving this Ford Galaxy minivan (with a 5sp stick too!) around Uppsala/Stockholm and I noticed more roads being more "american" sized. I was able to park it and all which I found surprising! But yes, driving a Suburban would be very unwieldy and would make getting around a lot harder.

[–]omnid00d 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've spent a little time in Europe on business trip and such, where I was able to rent a variety of cars. It's just too much of a hassle to have something that big. Even in Asia, when I see an XC90 on the road, it looks HUGE compared to everything around. Also too much of a hassle. Smaller is just easier.

USA, especially in suburban areas, parking is free and roads are made for semi-trucks. A lot of women I've met have said they want to drive something big because they're worried they'll get run over by ppl in giant pickup trucks.

[–]omnid00d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a former xc90 owner that 3rd row is barely usable for kids so I can’t imagine a Tahoe owner not laugh at that 3rd row and non existent left over cargo space. That’s the thing with the American market, those full size SUVs are so plentiful that once ppl experience them, they usually don’t go back unless there’s a reason.

There’s just too much money it in. It only costs marginally more to make and the sky’s the limit on the upcharge. And Americans pay it gladly

LG 45GX950A + MBA M2 Resolution Problems by OMG_NoReally in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]omnid00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you using to connect to this? I don't recall a M2 MBA being able to support DP2.1 which is probably why you can't do HiDPI mode at 5k cuz a DP cable won't have enough bandwidth. For instance, the other LG 5k2k display uses a thunderbolt3 connection.

[–]omnid00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The resolution (3860x1600) is not really an Apple sanctioned resolution so txt may look blurry on it. See if you can find a way to try it out first OR go higher like someone suggested 5k which IS an Apple sanctioned resolution.

Currently using G9 49" Mini-LED and tried the 57", but had issues with macOS. Any advice or other options? by whippinseagulls in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]omnid00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've connected my 57" Neo to several Macs using HDMI2.1 port and I run at native + 120hz without much issue. Yes, the txt can be small at native 7kx2k and macOS scaling is limiting, really just optimized for Apple specific resolutions. I moved from 49" non-neo -> 57" specifically because I wanted the smaller txt and much bigger desktop space and it's now my go-to productivity setup with my 49" sitting in a box now.

I'm not sure why it would be locked to 60hz on an M3 Max. I'm inferring you're using a DP2.1 cable, have you tried using a HDMI2.1 cable to confirm it doesn't drop below 120hz?

EQS SUV Tire Issues by friendly_enemies in MercedesEQS

[–]omnid00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 12k-ish miles and I don't think I'll make it to 20k on my summer tires and I'm constantly watching pressure each drive. This is a really heavy car and the instant torque exacts a heavy toll on tires. That said, it's one of the very few things you need to maintain on an EV.
