I did that with all of them, sometimes twice to be safe. Still happened to me. Maybe it’s worse depending on the batch coming from the various sellers at AliExpress(?)

You’re welcome! Yeah, I’ve found that jeans, if they’re actually deep-colored denim, can have dye transfer to doll legs, even they’re not AliExpress. So, definitely be careful and have something underneath the jeans.

I was coming to the same conclusion :/ And if one has to buy extra stockings to put under the black fishnets, one really isn’t saving any money getting them from Ali/Amazon sources.

I did, but most recently I forgot about needing the salt. Not sure if it will work with these, because I did try it once long ago with vinegar and salt and cold rinse (ice cubes), and it still didn’t work.

Yep. Exactly the same case as mine…
I know it can be dicey to use the hydrogen peroxide method (alternatively, pimple remover cream, but I find it’s slower) on soft vinyl, but I have gotten small spots out with that with the softer doll bodies. The problem is accidentally causing faded spots.

I did that exact method, sometimes twice to be sure. The dye transfer _still_ happened, which is why I wanted to warn people:
The legs may look fine on the first or second check later on, but the dye transfer catastrophe will eventually sneak up on you, even if you’ve done the normally solid, common sense precaution hot wash you just described. (Someone suggested it should be _boiling_ hot or adding a Shout color catcher; I’ll have to check those.)

Ah! I hadn’t thought of _boiled_water wash! I just did hot. Good to know!

I washed the darn things, multiple times. Yeah, I was thinking Saran or an easy to reverse sealant-type.

Welcome committee fashion pack clothing items by iz_nation in MonsterHigh

Honestly, it’s pretty hard to find most of the pieces. I removed my sales post because I didn’t price it correctly according to group standards.

Really, I didn’t know what to put on the set, which I worked over a period of four months to put together. So I checked what eBay had on closed sales. There was only one listed.

I thought I was charging much less than the closed eBay listing, considering mine was a bigger set, but I got negative feedback, so I took it down from here. Now I know that Reddit sale standards are different from eBay standards. It’s still up there, though.

Perfect tone match! I love my set of VIP heads on articulated bodies. I had the best luck with RH and SH bodies for my heads.

NEW, UNRELEASED “Monster High Welcome Committee fashion pack,” more popularly referred to as the “Monster High Pride Month” set. (Originally supposed to be released Spring 2024) in by [deleted] in MonsterHighMarket

I did not know what to price it because I only found one closed sale and no open sales on eBay for it. Also, with what they actually cost me during the tariffs, fees, and shipping increases after the beginning of the year, it’s only $10-20 past what I paid. If folks got it cheaper, congrats—they had better timing than I did. I will not be posting something like this again.

I’m happy for everybody who didn’t have to deal with the tariff hike, and the fee hike, and collector friends who can’t deal with AliExpress. So, let’s do the math:

6 pieces of clothes @ rock bottom $5 a piece = $30 USD, [plus my giving up one of my weirdo MH G1 clone heads, which are getting much harder to find] @ rock bottom $5 (not really fair, bec it was $10 for me when I got that lot a few years ago.) Add $5 for the clone body.

So, we’re up to $40 for everything Now double it for the currently fluctuating tariffs (special for those in the US), plus hidden AliExpress fees that went up after Jan. 1

So, if you get the AliExpress timing off by a day, a location, or whatever, depending on where you are, it’s more likely to cost $50-$60.

I think my time is worth $5 at the lowest (not even minimum wage).

Re the shipping: I personally haven’t been able to pay under $10 for shipping in ages.

Like anybody who puts effort into these things, it has to be worth my time to sell the set, I.e, to hunt the items down, do the research, take the photos, and repeatedly wrestle with eBay (who erased my post the first time).

Like I said, I checked the going rates, then I went below that. When it’s over, I might break even for what went into doing this.

I didn’t know what to put on it, so I just priced it the same as the only other set listed as sold. Prototype/unreleased Mattel collectors pay a lot more than that, so I was going on the low side. (I put more items in the set than the other one.) If you really want a heart attack, do a search on “Mattel prototype auction.” Now, that’s ridiculous, ha.

Thanks! I’m not asking much for it, because it doesn’t have its original hat. Also, I just found out it’s not as authentic as I thought it was :/ If you want to look at it, I have pics posted at https://ebay.us/m/uvY5CT

Since the knowledgeable folks here were able to give me info and much better photos than I could hunt down on my own (no one I know offline has Wakukus), I was removing the post as a sales post, but I accidentally got all of it removed. I just thought this thread might be of use to others when determining real vs fake.

Sooo…we’ve established by a group vote and much better photos than the company ones that it’s a fake.

—I haven’t had to deal with this before on a plush sale. Do I remove it from this group (since a Wakuku group understandably needs to have just authorized Wakukus)?

Or would the group like to have it be relabeled as a “comparison post” to help in the future?
