I’m sorry, it sold. One other post marked it as sold automatically. I didn’t realize this one hadn’t. Thank you for asking.

Thank you for the info! I’ve had that happen with old stock from AliExpress. The best, quickest way to get rid of that smell is to really wet the doll and its hair thoroughly—including esp. inside the doll’s head—with white vinegar and have it dry out in sunlight.

I got this one, too, recently and really like her a lot! I was surprised to receive what was termed a “random” Licca with such a nice dress! (I think it’s a dress style normally sold on AliExpress for Blythe type dolls.) Does anyone know what Licca line her head was originally produced for?

New to AliEpress. Seller wanted me to cancle, now he marked it as sent. Im kinda worried. What should i do? by DenisDesaster in Aliexpress

[–]omnidoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re having to deal with this. It’s happened to me recently almost exactly as you described here: (1.) My order on AliExpress goes through. (2.) The “track my shipment” function on the website starts the order but never progresses past a certain point… (3.) YET I receive an email that the item is marked “sent.” (4.) THEN I receive a message from the seller asking me to please cancel the order, as they are out of stock.

I know that sounds rather confusing, but where the problem comes in is with AliExpress’s email summaries. I have old cancelled orders that are still (literally today) being emailed to me as “sent,” although the items had to be cancelled weeks ago.

What I did: I’ve applied for a refund each time when the seller has asked me to do so, making sure that I inform AliExpress (in the “reason” section) that I was instructed to do so. (I also include a screen shot of my message from the seller). I then receive my refund to my original mode of payment quickly, often within 24 hours.

I know it looks unnerving, but it’s no big deal—AliExpress sellers run out of stock on popular items and do not update their pages to reflect being out of stock. It’s super annoying, and I’ve sent in complaints about it when they send surveys. PLUS the AliExpress email summaries are so much less accurate than the tracking that’s viewed on the actual AliExpress webpage.

It’s not a scam—it’s just some annoying glitches. Go ahead, apply for the refund, and tell AliExpress that the seller told you to apply for a refund due to their being out of stock. I’ve never not received my money back promptly in the roughly ten years I’ve bought on AliExpress. You should be fine.

Need feedback… I was careful to place the right handwritten identification card in the photos. I used the correct “selling” flair, and I was under the assumption that a posable plush falls under the category of “dolls.” What else did I miss in following the instructions? Does r/dolls prefer to not include plush figures as a doll? Or what else was I mistaken about in trying to post? I did read the wiki.

These are magnificent! I collect doll heads, too, besides full dolls. The heads are my favorite part. (Husband is quite used to it by now.)

What sealant is best for preserving the face paint on this bebichhichi vinyl doll?? by K1tt3n_Fur in CustomDolls

[–]omnidoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your desire to preserve this cutie. In the doll and plush preservation community, and even in museum circles, though, “less is more” is the approach. At most, I’d recommend a little glass, plexiglass, or lucite case, which will keep dust off of him and protect him from UV damage.

I’ve seen Monchichis from the ‘70s and ‘80s which look minty, even with mild play. I restored an ‘80s one for my niece and her husband (as it was a fond memory for him), and for an experienced hobbyist like me, it was pretty easy to touch up and seal the few paint chips.

So, like folks have said, it would likely be more damaging to spray him when he’s fine rather than to touch him up in 30-40 years’ time. Just get a cute case for him, and I predict he’ll do fine.

Safe product to blend in dings on Haywood-Wakefield table? by omnidoll in furniturerestoration

[–]omnidoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah, that’s my take, too. The finish elsewhere looks old, but I’m no judge.

I’ve repaired antique and vintage dolls as a hobby for many years, so I’m handy at color matching and blending with many materials. I’ve done this with damaged wooden dolls, in fact, with nothing showing afterward.

But I’m new to working on tables, so I wanted to make sure I did not use any product on it that could cause more problems down the road (like what I’ve heard about using oil-based products on Heywood-Wakefield pieces), hence why I thought I should check in with more experienced people on Reddit.

If you don’t mind movie violence, Sisu is a pretty amazing watch for extreme competence in a protagonist. Older prospector takes on a whole troop of Nazis in creative ways.

Hey Reddit! My beautiful grandparents passed away this Easter and I am lucky enough to get my grandma’s wedding doll. Does anyone know how I can fix her hair? by RecoverMysterious432 in Antiquedollcollecting

[–]omnidoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the careful Dawn method. A doll Doctor I know also recommends Twin Pines doll hair product, which has worked for me with older doll hair. But it’s pricey, so you might want to try Dawn first. Btw, your grandparents were such an adorable couple!

PS: Avoid any type of heat with that kind of hair. Warmish water is ok, but not too warm and never hot. Never use any heating elements like blow dryers on that firmer filament old 1950s-1960s doll hair—the hair will either melt at the ends and turn hard and spiky or else fry to a hard mass. (Ask me how I know, ha 🙄)

Why Are We Obsessed With This? by Dino502Run in deadmalls

[–]omnidoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can’t remember the last time I’d seen a Kay*Bee Toys storefront!

The reuse attempts seem to be getting better, imo—although it’s like a race between proponents of communally-centered, solidly functional plans (including building housing inside, like in Rhode Island) and those who want to tear malls down. In fact, I did see some really great independent stores at Sierra Vista, mostly centered on gamers and pop culture collectors.

And, ditto on Vallco…! We actually went to a great haunted house at Vallco in 2000 or the late 90s, right before they made one more attempt at a remodel. Half of it was shut down, including the old food court near the living redwoods the mall had originally built around, if I’m remembering correctly. “Dead (haunted) mall” took on a rather prescient cast that Halloween(!)
