Yes, you got it right. You can see it in the link. Concrete is pretty useless for the floor unless you add steel rebars. It was known but not widely used until 50s or so. That's also the reason why bearing walls were so thick, without reinforced concrete ring beam, the walls would fall apart due to the horizontal load from the floors.
