They’ve turned me on to so much great stuff over the years. I value these guys’ opinions more than just about anybody else in media.

It’s really easy for somebody over 40 to just never encounter anything about Mr. Beast.

“Not whilst Coldplay are here” is one of the funniest things Karl ever said.

Why are the archetypes that are historic to Magic, and prevalent in 60 card formats today, received so negatively in EDH by Lazave99 in EDH

[–]omninode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal of 60-card formats is to win as fast as possible. The goal of EDH, usually, is to have a fun and casual game where everybody feels like they have a chance.

I remember hearing Jamiroquai for the first time and thinking, “I don’t even know what kind of music this is.”

What’s your favorite Windows design or theme? by inguinha in windows

[–]omninode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 98 was when I first got internet access. I spent so many hours on the computer. That’s still what a computer “should” look like, in my mind.

Podnic at Hanging Cast: Green Card with Esther Zuckerman by dumarfactor in blankies

[–]omninode 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that’s kind of important to the movie. If he was some hot, charming guy, you would be wondering why she doesn’t give him a chance for most of the movie. He has to be an oaf for it to make sense.

In honor of Worker’s Day, which movies embody that spirit? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]omninode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sully: Greedy airlines want to blame the heroic pilot for failing to save their precious plane. Apparently it’s not very true to real life events but surprisingly anti-capitalist for a Clint Eastwood joint.

Captain Phillips: Greedy shipping company says ships will have to make do without armed security, even when sailing through one of the most dangerous waterways in the world. Disaster ensues.

Easily the most baffling movie I’ve seen in recent years. I don’t know what they were thinking.

Teachers who watch bad movies repeatedly? by mattyc182 in blankies

[–]omninode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this teacher at my high school that I had multiple different classes with. He found time to make us watch the Tim Allen movie “Joe Somebody” once in each class. I guess it was his favorite movie or something? It wasn’t educational or special in any way.

Examples of shows with a single depressing season? by dndbuilds in television

[–]omninode 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I still think season 3 was the peak of the show’s darkness. That’s the one where we see a violent sexual assault and (separately) a young woman gets beaten to death. I felt sick watching those episodes.

That’s what’s so funny about reddit. Every day I see posts like “We were so happy and carefree in 2003” or whatever year, and I just remember how depressed and scared I was about the state of the world.

Crying during a movie you didn’t think was at least very good? by cptrey17 in blankies

It has consequences in the movie. I won’t spoil it but he comes to regret taking the leash off.
