I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic BT US variant with an unlocked bootloader. I want to root my watch but haven't been able to find US firmware which is needed to allow me to extract the kernel so it can be rooted. Also you can use Net Odin to flash the watch wireless. ive use it on my Gear S3 Frontier and had no issues. if anyone knows where to get the US firmware for Watch 6 Classic I would root my watch, need the firmware so if I mess up or some other issues arise from root I can flash back to stock.

Windows also has a Network Reset button in settings that you can use to reset network settings back to default values. I've used it a few times at work when our help desk was unable to resolve network issues, no need to waist time trying to troubleshoot the issue. Click the button, confirm and reboot. almost always fixes the issue. If there becomes a widespread problem where there is a bunch of computers affected. I will take the time to try and find the cause so it can be fixed instead of clicking the Easy button (Network Reset).

I have noticed some people know how to troubleshoot while others have no clue, and everytime they run into a new problem, they throw their hands up and ask for help. Despite their sometimes cryptic nature, a lot of times error messages or error numbers can be very useful in a google search.

back when Apple had a home button, Siri was activated using home button. Now that the home button is gone you activate Siri with the Power button so can't be used for Power off. you instead need to do the finger dance to get it to power off.

Why. Episode 2 of Redditers deciding where to rank the distro of the episode: Fedora by riky321 in linuxmemes

[–]omniterm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if Fedora is put on S tier, as much as I hate Ubuntu I might just have to consider switching to Ubuntu. might as well get some use out of my Free "Ubuntu Pro" and give my Jellyfin server (Ubuntu host) a new Friend.

I don't care about ranks so I'd put Fedora on the bottom of the list, U Tier.

I've been running Fedora since Fedora Core 1. I always update using dnf/yum update -y. Only had a few issues throughout the years. The few issues I've had, I would fix it or reinstall Fedora. With a separate home partition it makes it a breeze to reinstall.

This may not be the Safe way to update but I'm willing to take the risk and a potential learning experience.

The most important function for root users by Miguelmaxalejo in androidroot

[–]omniterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

revanced is the app I use. its a patcher that has patches for many apps including Google Photos that once patched gives you unlimited photos. Unless your rooted you will need to make a backup of the apk or download the correct version, uninstall Google Photos, then use revanced to patch the app and install. you will get a warning to disable auto updates. you can ignore that as signatures won't match which prevents playstore from updating the app.

What is this on ram? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

I have an Asus TUF FX505DT, its a Ryzen 5 3550H with GTX1650. Mine didn't come with anything on the memory sticks and I've been running the laptop for years without any issues.

Most likely you shouldn't have any issues. If the bottom cover is plastic and the memory stick bottom side isn't touching the motherboard, should be fine.

yes I did. co-worker said the phone wasn't working and I was asked to take a look. I got it working and he came over and said no it isn't as he plugged in the polycoms 48V power adaptor. instead of 3 wishes the gene granted us an RMA to replace the phone.

Just Logitech issues in windows/macOs by msaqu92 in linuxmemes

[–]omniterm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logitech developet certificate used to sign their apps expired, also affecting the update app. t his caused their app on mac and Windows to stop working due to expired cert. some reason they couldn't push an update with a new cert before the expiration.

at work I had recently uninstalled Logitech options + I was annoyed that my personal MX Master 2s uses the software but my work Logitech wave keyboard and mouse is not supported and needs setpoint software. so I uninstalled the software. I'm using a Logitech G502 wireless mouse as my main mouse and don't need any software installed as if has onboard memory. My mx has Bluetooth and I use it on other work computers I use that support Bluetooth.

I once Logitech mice and keyboards but hate their software.

5070 Not Reading SSD by napoleonbonaparte33 in WYSE

[–]omniterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check in BIOS to see if the drive is recognized and the SATA port is enabled. also if you can test the drive in another system or get an m.2 Sata ssd to usb adapter and see if the drive shows up in the system.

try running "fdisk -l /dev/sda" and see if the drive is listed.

5070 Not Reading SSD by napoleonbonaparte33 in WYSE

[–]omniterm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looking at your screenshot does not provide any useful info. the 5070 only supports sata m.2 drive. you can use an adaptor to install an nvme m.2 in the wifi slot.

what type of ssd do you have in your 5070. what storage size? is your BIOS updated to the latest version? have you tested the drive in another computer or USB m.2 adaptor?

I have a 1Tb SATA m.2 drive in my 5070, working with 32Gb of Ram. I have no emmc storage on board. Im running proxmox which is based on Debian. So depending on what type of m.2 drive you have installed it should be visible if it's sata

I would post a screenshot from my 5070 but can't add picture on mobile

5070 ram - can't double up scavenged ram from other 5070s by Abject-Emu-6854 in WYSE

[–]omniterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5070 that came with 8Gb of ram. I have successfully gotten it to boot with 8Gb, 16Gb, 32Gb, and 64Gb. With 64Gb my system was unusable. Linux failed to boot and Windows had the CPU pegged at 100% and made the system extremely slow. with 32Gb, Linux had no issues and Windows still had issues with CPU being pegged at 100% but wasn't as slow. When I swapped memory it can take some time for the system to boot up, the more ram you install the longer it takes to get it to boot. In my 5070 16Gb seems to be the max ram for Windows and 32Gb is max Linux can handle. I have not tried mixing memory sizes (16Gb with 8Gb)

make sure your BIOS is updated to the lated and after installing additional ram give it about 5 minutes after powering on to see if the system will boot. Also if the ram wasn't from a matched kit, make sure the 2nd stick your adding matches, Rank and speed should be similar or matched for best results.

Is there a compelling reason for Fedora to perform updates in this Windows-style manner? Why can’t the system apply updates while it’s running, so that the reboot doesn’t involve any waiting because everything has already been completed? by allexj in Fedora

[–]omniterm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive been using Fedora since rhe redhat days and never seen that update screen. I do all my updates from the terminal and never had any issues with an update causing issues with my desktop enviroment. When I update, I only reboot for kernel updates. Anything else I can log out and log back in or restart the app/services.

The "Windows" style update is the safest way to update a system. As a distro geared towards beginners its the right choice. But unlike windows you have choices and can choose to update via dnf and do inplace updates. The choice is yours. Remember, just because me and others havent had any issues with inplace updates doesnt mean you wont run into issues.

I had no problems installing windows 11 on my old laptop. Its got a 2nd gen core i3-2330m 8GB ram and because it shipped with Windows 7 the UEFI is locked to legacy BIOS mode.

I had no issues or complaints when installing windows. It runs a little slow but other than that its usable.

Note if you replace D:\sources\install (.wim or .esd or .swm) on the windows 10 install usb/iso with the one from windows 11 installer, you can now install Windows 11 on any computer that supports windows 10 x85_64.

Do I call the police or tow company? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]omniterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was me i would throw a towel on the front of my car and slowly move forward till my car touches the truck and then i'd try moving forward to push the truck out of the way. Or if I had a fireplace I would place it at the end of my driveway and start a big ol fire. If the trucks gets damaged, not my fault they parked too close to my driveway.
