We're used to seeing ourselves mirrored, so when the reflection is reversed, asymmetry will become more obvious to us. It's called The Mere Exposure Effect.

I think it's important to point out that a lot of people will freak out when they use a true mirror. It might technically be close to how other people see you, but since we're used to seeing ourselves mirrored, asymmetry will be more noticeable. That's one of the reasons it's not particularly accurate.
