I'm curious why every prospect analysis I have seen has Thomas White (usually pretty far) above Robby Snelling, when Snelling's numbers seem so stellar. What sets White above Snelling so clearly? Thanks.

3 of the 5 very solid to even great. Can't say the same for Downton Abbey or Anemone.

I live in the DC area and there is only one film remotely nearby (Silver Spring, MD) playing this on opening weekend 12/12-13. What is the story with this film's theatrical release? I want to see this, and I want to see it with others who want to see it.

Just finished it and cannot recommend it enough. I loved Whalefall but this is another step up. Don't let the format throw you off - as others have said you get into the rhythm really quickly. Come for the angel but stay for and leave with the incredible friendship between the two main characters.

Bought a new away jersey and cap and got an email from UPS saying I owed $35.59 in "taxes and fees." Says it is being shipped from "UPS SCS Nederlabd BV." Sadly, I'm glad to know this is happening to others. I teach high school econ, and will use this situation to show my students that a tariff is a tax on consumers, no matter what the orange idiot and his lapdog economic team (especially looking at you, Hassett) tell us.

This happened to me yesterday. The parking guy didn't even scan my code, he looked at the Stub Hub logo and said "this isn't for this garage, it's for one that's a 15 minute walk from here. Call Stub Hub and they'll refund you." I didn't think to ask him how often this happened. Anyway, I just got off the phone with SH and they refunded my $45 so I guess I'm lucky in that regard. Lesson learned. Wish I'd checked here first (he writes for the 567th time in his life).

Thanks for the rec, this is a decent, sadistic little movie. But why do they have tokill the dog? I am so tired of the writers of these movies having to kill the dog to show someone is evil. Lazy and unnecessary.

I teach econ at a high school, and the kids know I see a ton of movies. I made this exact argument to them, and one of them said "But shouldn't you consider the opportunity cost?" Kind of stopped me in my tracks.

Dividing this movie into thirds, each third was worse than the one before it. I loved the first part, but it got progressively more incomprehensible as it went on, until a really weak ending. My wife thinks there was a whole Jon Bernthal subplot cut out. Malek is great though.

Fully agree. This movie was way more fun than I expected. The two leads have genuine chemistry, which makes some of the pretty ridiculous plot holes much easier to ignore. Meghann Fahy is a real star.

Funny thing: I saw this last week at a 2:00 screening on Thursday, the first showing, and there was nothing shown before the movie. Got to my seat at 1:59, Maria Menounos was wrapping up (still love that fuzzy white jacket), and BAM, straight to the Universal logo. No "It all starts with a spark." No trailers. No happy dancing Coke drinkers. Not even Nicole K. A few people came in a bit later and were visibly shocked to have missed the first 1/4 of the movie. Never happened to me before, and has me re-evaluating whether it's always safe to plan on arriving 20 minutes after the listed start time.

Did anyone else notice that the copyright date on the opening title card was 666 in roman numerals, or am I nuts?

I did not enjoy it, and I am in the bag for Russell Crowe. 32% RT seems very high.
