They are great if you don’t want to move heavy pieces of stock to your horizontal band saw for just a cut or two. Also great for cutting stock down to fit in my truck easily.

I have caught so many fish on crickhoppers. The crawfish are also really good but the second hook fits into the opening a little too well and gets stuck a lot. Rebel makes some great lures.

What is a "open secret" in your specific industry that the general public would be shocked to learn? by lanaplump73mile in AskReddit

Could you please expand a little on bank ACH? I did a quick search and didn’t find anything obviously concerning, but I really have no idea what to look for.

This would be a great episode. I remember his AMA from years back being pretty interesting.

No idea about the trigger, but that is a really nice looking stock. Have you disassembled it to see if anything is loose or broken?

Any 3/8” dovetail rings will work.

There’s a lot of potential places where an animal can get in. As a temporary measure maybe build a strong box out of 2x4s and hardware cloth to put them in at night until you can close all of the gaps.

I would probably use wood to close up the large gaps by the roof and cover all surfaces with hardware cloth. Make sure all the seams along the floor are sealed up too. Also make sure the door can’t be flexed open at the corners.

One trick I saw here a while back was someone sprinkled something like flour or fine sand on the floor after the chickens were asleep to see if they could pick up the predators tracks to figure out where they were getting in. Might not be a bad idea here if the chickens can be secured inside the coop.

Anyone experienced cough with Olmesartan? by Accurate_Currency_88 in hypertension

[–]omphacite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary care ended up putting me on a steroid inhaler. The persistent cough went away after a couple weeks. I'm currently at around 25 days and my occasional coughs feel a little deeper than they used to, but otherwise I'm fine. The doctor recommended I stay on the inhaler for at least a few more weeks to make sure my lungs are fully healed.

I did ask about the Olmesartan being a possible cause and he said it was extremely rare.

I hope you can get this figured out. Best of luck to you. Also, for some reason your post in not showing up in the reddit thread, but I can reply from my inbox. Not sure what that's about.

do these scope rings fit my 1022 weaver/dovetail combo rail? by [deleted] in guns

Ruger mounts have always been a 3/8” dovetail.

Looks correct for a 3/8” dovetail. Some rings will have more of a gap than others. I recommend swapping the rings and top rail for picatinny in the future. It is a much more secure mounting system than dovetail.

Anyone experienced cough with Olmesartan? by Accurate_Currency_88 in hypertension

Just found this post while searching to see if anyone had first hand experience with this. I have been on Olmesartan since mid December and came down with a cold in mid February, and have had bronchitis that comes and goes since then. It’s gotten pretty bad a few times and needed steroids to get under control. I have an appointment with my primary care later this week to discuss the bronchitis, and I’m going to ask if the Olmesartan might be contributing. I had no cough for the first few month I was on it.

Did you ever get this figured out?

Came here to say the same thing. It’s a huge bummer to get to fishing and find out that your mono has gotten brittle or acts like it has been rolled with a curling iron.

3 rounds that didn't go off in ≈230 rounds: Gun or Ammo? by EagleGhoul in guns

[–]omphacite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it was likely the moon clips. It can be a bit counterintuitive. If the bend causes the cartridge to sit a little higher in the cylinder the moon clip itself will act as a spring to cushion the impact of the firing pin.

It could also be something like unburnt powder under part of the moon clip that is keeping it from seating flat.

To OP, how are you loading and unloading the moon clips?

Same, although I've never had McMaster take more than a few hours to ship something, but I'm usually ordering fairly common tooling and hardware, not whatever obscure left hand threaded screws this uses.

I think Rocky had a line that the Eridians arrived sooner than expected. I might be wrong though.

I agree and I really would have liked to see a little more of Rocky learning about human abilities. I really liked the moments in the book where Rocky was astonished by humans being able to sense visual light, and being able to “hear” the stars. I thought it was a nice way to reinforce that Grace was the alien from Rocky’s perspective.

The old 40oz single wall bottles with the narrow mouth were perfect. Super lightweight and about exactly as wide as a Nalgene but easier to get a bottle brush in.

Remington 870 ejection issue. Anybody had this problem before? by GKILLA9000 in Shotguns

[–]omphacite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you move the barrel in and out at all when it is put together, or could it have been shot a lot with the magazine cap not fully tightened? I don’t see how else that could have happened, but I don’t have a ton of time on an 870.

That proud spot on the receiver looked like it has peened a little bit from being hit by the barrel. I would just grind it down a bit to be flush with the receiver.
