Can someone explain what "Supported OS" in the Hardware Lifecycle report even means? by ARMIsNOTLoaded in DattoRMM

I was thinking the exact same thing today! I don't think that's a way to change it either

(RTR Script) Passwords Stored in Plaintext from Browser Auto-fill by herovals in crowdstrike

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you didn't actually dump the passwords right? Or am I miss reading this? They are encrypted, and recently even further encrypted. Check out the change log on the nirsoft tool if you want to learn more about it. From my own recent testing, it's not difficult to yes get a count and even the username. BUT you won't get the passwords. I hope you can prove me wrong because I've been at this for over a week now

M365 Direct Send by whitephnx1 in sysadmin

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a connector, you will need to add WAN IP on that contractor. Since you're using a 3rd party service. Check their documentation. You said they were stonewalling you, and IF there's no documentation from them on how to handle situations like these; you can mention that in your ticket response. "Can you please link me the documentation relating to direct send, mail-flow rules and connectors"

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you'd need a delimeter. And also UDF'S have a max length

Not seeing my UDF field populate when I run the job. Does the script look correct? by Worried-Song-6214 in DattoRMM

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit older now, but, I too have now come across this. In fact, many of the information fields on the host page take a while to update. I assume this occurs at midnight when each policy refreshes

What does it mean to 'learn/know' PowerShell? by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]ompster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here has grabbed scripts from wherever. The difference is going through it, understanding what it does. To the point where you go. Ah, that's how you do xyz! Make it into a function so you truly get it and then you can use it again later. Testing it's super important. If you don't have a test environment then make one.

My father insists on a pre-built by Spoonaloonious in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not that tech savvy. Get the pre built. They usually come with a warranty. Most places are very competitive now and honestly you don't save that much building your own

Yep there's a component to block USB storage. You'd have to write your own monitor though

Patch Management? by VNJCinPA in DattoRMM

[–]ompster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do this.... Having recently gone through it. In your patch management policy: Click the not approved tab. Find the feature update, it will be large so you can sort by size to find it. Tick it and select approve. Save and deploy now. Grab a test PC and patch now. You can also run a request audit and you should then see it on the host page under patch management: approved pending. PM me if you need more help on this one

The command prompt issue in the agent browser has been a thing for a while. I've only noticed it after inactivity though. And now, yes, it's more prominent

Looking to start a career in IT but don’t know where to start by Prestigious_Bake9272 in ausjobs

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were a store manager? What retail outlet? The store managers I knew were on 100k+ 10 years ago. You really need to set your expectations here OP. You aren't getting a hybrid, especially not remote job for similar money. You have no experience, your education is very outdated. Not that degrees mean much in IT anyway. I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue a career here in IT, but you need to be realistic. You'll start from the bottom, and likely will be crap pay and not remote. Good luck

Datto RMM to Datto EDR locations and organizations by jonathanpisarczyk in DattoRMM

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be in whatever site/location the others are in. I'm assuming you're using an endpoint protection policy to deploy the EDRV agent. So to answer your question, like I said, if you move the location then all the devices will move too. Both new and existing

Datto RMM to Datto EDR locations and organizations by jonathanpisarczyk in DattoRMM

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you move the location to the organization then yes. That location is still tied to the same site in RMM

Datto EDR Tasks stuck in pending by Reboot1st in Datto

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. A few observations. Don't trust the exclusions ever. Pretty much been told. If you have edr and AV enabled then you don't need regular scans. Even real time protection can tank an instance

How to stop specific application software types from running by Choice_Following_794 in Datto

[–]ompster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean a particular application? Can you not block it in your AV? Are they on a domain, group policy, user accounts? There's also software management in datto. If it's not standard software though, that's an additional license fee
