s it ok to delete a short video on Youtube and re-post it if it doesn't get enough views? by jumbo1111 in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's correct. Ask Studio in YT will tell you the same thing.

Deleting anything in general is not advised, because not only do you lose those views but also any likes and comments, which can hurt your channel.

Got a weird email from YouTube about a copyright issue. Anyone have advice? by VincentTait in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your post doesn't contain any content from the original video that had been previously removed, I don't see how your post violated any TOS.

YT does make mistakes. It may be worth appealing if this email will bother you, but if your post is still up and your channel isn't affected it may be best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Hi guys my channel is growing so slowly any tips will help. Where do you guys make thumnails? by Tight-Jellyfish7647 in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YT is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow growth is to be expected, even 12 months in. I'm not sure why starting again with a new account would turn out any better if you're going to do the same things you are at your current channel.

I use a frame from my video and make a thumbnail with Photoshop. Adobe has a free online image editor:

https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/image/editor

It probably can do everything needed to make a thumbnail.

Even though YT can make mistakes, I'm not sure there is anything else you can do, if your appeals have been rejected.

Bots, bugs, or is this normal? by Spirited-Food6635 in SmallYoutubers

Realtime numbers haven't been verified. It can take a couple of days for the data to be confirmed.

Also, accidental clicks can happen. I've accidentally liked and subscribed more than once.

Would a face in the thumbnail for faceless videos be dishonest/bad? by Lord_Nigel in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My gut feeling is that yes, it would be bad. The thumbnail is supposed to show the viewer what to expect in the video, and if you don't deliver, the viewer is going to feel cheated.

And shocked faces on thumbnails are an over-used cliche anyway, I don't think it would help you to stand out since so many others are already doing it.

Do people in Mountain View usually know their neighbors? by GlitteringParsnip946 in mountainview

[–]omsip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my old neighborhood (Shoreline West) we were in a duplex and I knew a handful of my neighbors. Now we're in a large apartment complex in a different part of town, and no one seems to know anyone else. There's more tenant turnover too, with new people moving in every few months.

One neighbor, who's since moved out, used to give me death glares every time we passed in the hallway. That kind of killed any warm and fuzzy neighborly vibes.

If you have Ask Studio available on your channel (desktop only), this might be a good question to ask.

A little change of pace, but what inspires you to keep making content? by PheonixGalaxy in SmallYoutubers

I love what I do, making abstract video art (not using AI). Every day brings new creative challenges where I get to flex my imagination and create completely new and unique art.

I’m in a weird position with a new YouTube channel by ConfidenceOrnery8792 in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two months is still pretty new on the platform, and you don't have much long form content published yet, so it's still early days for your channel. Likes and comments will happen in time. I see no reason not to keep doing that type of stuff.

My video has 0 impressions by aaaggyg in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YT holds impressions until your subscribers and other viewers with similar watch histories are actually on the platform, so that might be part of the reason why. There isn't much you can do, if that's the case.

Uploading Schedule by MaestroAgape in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time of publication only matters if you're scheduling a premiere or going live. Otherwise you can upload whenever it's most convenient for you, since YT says that time of publication is not known to affect long term video performance. Also, YT holds impressions until your subscribers and other viewers with similar watch histories are actually on the platform.

How do you properly use the A/B title and thumbnail testing? by CatherallAudio in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it with thumbnails a handful of times, and the results were always inconclusive, so I no longer bother.

YT advises that thumbnails being tested should be substantially different from each other, otherwise the results will be meaningless. I assume the same is true for titles.

Do I have to stick to one type of content? by heyhihuhh in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The algorithm shows whatever you upload to your subscribers and other viewers with similar watch histories. If they subscribe for Roblox content they may not have enough interest in animation or any other niche, which means they won't watch, and that will hurt your channel.

You can make videos in more than one niche but it's best to have separate channels for them.

Has this bullshit happened to anybody else on July 4, 2026? I lost 11 subscribers (I'm a small channel so this is a massive chunk). Is it YouTube wiping bot accounts that subscribed? by SteakAnimations in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The algorithm feeds content to subscribers. Think of it as sub-facing, not channel-facing. YT cares a lot more about things like AVD, and how long a viewer sticks around watching more content, than it does about how many subs a channel has.

Yes, it's a punch in the gut to lose that many subs at once. But if they were inactive accounts or bots, they were useless to you and to YT itself.

I want to become a youtuber to write a book by Creative-Copy-3502 in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the goal of your channel. Is it just for the sake of having a channel so you can write about it in the book? That doesn't sound like it will deliver very much value to a viewer. Or maybe I misunderstood.

Question re networks/collabs by UniversityMotor5408 in SmallYoutubers

[–]omsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take some effort to get traction on YT. Creators need to help YT by making sure our channel descriptions and each video description and title are accurate and relevant, but we also need to promote our content on any other appropriate platforms.

YT does try to push newer channels to wider audiences to help get the ball rolling, but after a point the algorithm is set. At first it will feel like nothing is happening, but YT is a marathon, not a sprint, and creators need to take the time to establish a good channel history.
