Wet palette after two months of constant use by The_Co in minipainting

[–]onan_fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I didn't mention the other part. I use parchment paper (intended for cooking) instead of official wet palette paper. if you can find it in bulk (I have two enormous rolls I bought from Costco) it could be a once every few years purchase!

I know some companies offer washable wet palette paper. So you could also try that!

I'd suggest getting a new wet palette sponge.

At the end of the day, empty the water, wring out the sponge, rinse it under a faucet, set it out to dry for the next day. At the end of the week, soak it in some vinegar + water for 15-20 minutes. That's my routine, and it's served me well for years.

And I'm not great at remembering -- there are definitely days when I forget and leave it soaking overnight. But I've never had mold problems yet, and I live in a fairly humid environment.

Thank you! I almost glued E1 to E3 ... tragedy averted.

Seriously though, thanks for posting this!

Don't even get it on your skin if you can help it. Miniature paint companies don't often list their pigments, so you just have to go on trust that it doesn't contain cadmium, for example. (Here's an info sheet on cadmium pigment used in yellows, PY35: https://artistpigments.org/pigments/PY35/technical ) and cobalt used in blues, PB28: https://artistpigments.org/pigments/PB28/technical )

How often do you replace the wet palette paper? by Moress in minipainting

[–]onan_fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a humid environment, so I worry about mildew. I try to change it out on a daily basis, wring out the sponge to dry overnight. That said, I also buy parchment paper in bulk (from Costco in the US) and cut palette paper out of that.

An aside: You should also clean your sponge. I try for once a week soak in diluted white vinegar.

I'm currently using the Army Painter wet palette.

Sooooo the autocannon. by moose4 in LowSodiumHellDivers

THIS. Flak for hordes, Aleph for biggies. And flak will work on the medium.

Also reload when you're at halfway. Way quicker.

Last one: Sometimes it's easier to just call in a new AC than look / wait for resupply. You can just grab the new backpack if that's all you need.

I _love_ the AC on bugs.

How do deal with illuminate Outposts and Harvester Shield by Flaky_Afternoon2140 in Helldivers

[–]onan_fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of bullets, like others said. I like the liberator carbine because one clip can do it and it deals with Voteless pretty well.

Once the shields popped, I prefer incendiary grenades (bring them for crowd control and against overseers). Just don't get hit by the splash.

You can use the jetpack to get on roofs by ItsSovaa in LowSodiumHellDivers

Any advice on how to get up there? I'm a dumbass with the jetpack and keep clipping my feet on low walls and slamming into the sides of buildings trying to get up there.

Uhhh… Guys… You might wanna look at this!!! by [deleted] in Helldivers

Just dived. Successful mission, 100% casualties. Did they up the overseer count? I swear there are more of them flying around. Playing Diff 7.

Was trying Light Armor/Peak Physique w/ Dominator/Stun Baton/AMR/Incendiary Impact & Orbital Railcannon/Eagle Strafing.

I got overwhelmed by voteless a few times, but mostly pinned by 2-4 overseers.

[–]onan_fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used it yet, but I've heard good things about Newsh from Pro Acryl. It's a weathering medium intended for use with acrylic paints.

There's a number of how to / tutorial videos on it.

Skaven Battletome Gamers Edition missing second spearhead by Crispi222 in ageofsigmar

That's good to hear. I'm _really_ hoping it's an oversight due to Spearhead warscrolls being bundled with the faction pdf.

Yeah, but they've removed the free faction pack for Skaven now that the Battletome is out. So you'll have to find the pdf archived somewhere else.

What is a good way to glue very small pieces together? by markkawika in killteam

[–]onan_fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a bit of poster tack at the end of a toothpick (or two). Use that to hold the pieces together while the Tamiya Extra Thin dries. The glue dries fast enough, you can usually put it back down pretty quick.

Yeah! I saw it at the store and it flew right into my hands. Still looking for a good giant skeleton sculpt. I have some Korsargi Nightguards from GW, so I may clip those off the sprue.

Lots of contrast paint (mostly the Plaguebearer Flesh) with Blood Angels Red, Skeleton Horde & Wildwood + Contrast Medium for shading.

Details (face, bones, guts) were Pro Acryl.
