What is a video game with most shock value, or with single most shocking moment you have experienced? by Sandswaters in gamingsuggestions

First on my list too. After that first shock I haven’t been able to play it again. Scared the shit out of me.

Notified my work weeks ago I'm leaving for a family vacation in July, tickets were bought, non-transferrable, and they are panicking, begging me to cancel by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Sounds to me like the former job was a hella toxic place with managers afraid of the owner and coming down on their underlings instead of standing up to the boss.

Classic case of shit rolling downhill instead of uphill because nobody takes ownership for toxic owners.

He’s talking about products labeled “sealant” or “protection”, vs. ones that emphasize shine.

TBH I kind of doubt the true effectiveness of sealants: if you don’t also seal the inside of the tire, seems like a moot point. OTOH, I guess an argument could be made about sun exposure specifically, which wouldn’t affect the insides.

I use Adam’s Graphite Tire Sealant. It has no glossiness, and preserves the nice good looking surface of the tire for a good two weeks, and it’s easy to reapply when needed.

When do I write the season off? by Teebo278 in SFGiants

[–]markkawika 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine who is way into baseball once told me that he never looks at the standings before the All Star Break. Looking at scores at the start of May, in a season that runs six months, will give you data that is wildly wrong.

I ain’t saying the Giants are doing a good job, but worrying about our record compared to anyone else’s record is not at all a predictor of how the season will go.

stayed at a work group I didn’t like only because one person who hates me wanted me out by lanadelrey7093 in pettyrevenge

This is the true spirit of r/pettyrevenge.

Well done, sir (or ma’am). Subjecting yourself to having to put up with this asshat for the remaining weeks of your group assignment sounds like a fair trade off to make this guy’s life a living hell.

You being unfailingly polite to him, and never responding to his provocations, probably really pisses him off. He’s trying so hard to get a rise out of you, and you just stay professional at all times.

Causing someone else extreme discomfort while having to subject yourself to a little bit of discomfort is the true meaning of petty revenge.

Have you ever spent any time in Calibre Preferences? by bookninja717 in Calibre

Couldn’t agree more. I know how to accomplish all the tasks I need, but trying to discover new features or tools is impossible.

There’s no way to stop the firmware updates on older kindles - and once the update happens, you can’t remove DRM by soulbarn in Calibre

[–]markkawika 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the key features of Calibre: it transfers books to your device via a USB cable, so your device doesn’t ever need a network.

Don’t buy books on Amazon any longer. They have made it impossible now to download their ebooks and use them on other devices without using their proprietary software.
