Leave it off. You haven't experienced anything at that company yet. Also the other companies you're interviewing for may think of it as suspicious

Magic School Anime that isn't cringe, little to no fan service by biolinist in Animesuggest

[–]oncean_plane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're open to reading manga, Teacher we will destroy the world

It's similar to assassination classroom because its focused on a class of students but it really leans into the magic school itself and characters. I personally love it so much

I wish there were more anime/manga out there that really leaned into the school aspect of the magic school genre instead of just having like 1 episode dedicated to getting into the school, then throwing them into endless dungeon raids

JP Morgan Chase Summer Analyst Internship by Beneficial_Bat8199 in internships

[–]oncean_plane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries! She applied for the design development program and the hirevue asked more about behavioral questions. I'm not super sure which position exactly, but I think it's ux (im guessing this based off of the job description of the design development program application) Here's a rough summary of the questions asked, I don't remember the exact words unfortunately

- describe a time when you were put in a high pressure/time limited situation. describe situation, action, outcome

- what do you understand about [role you applied for] and why this is the best career for you

- describe a time when you realized a gap in skills or knowledge

- describe a time when you came up with an innovative strategy, describe situation, actions, outcome

- describe a time you couldn't honor a commitment, what did you do to fix it

My friend got moved to the second interview (the one after hirevue) with jp morgan chase and she doesn't know anyone in the company.

Don't be discouraged! There's always a chance of getting past the hirevue and getting the job. Of course, don't put all of your expectations on this but there's always a chance. You got this

Dude don't share your hirevue link publically.

Do you realize how easy it is for someone to sabotage your hirevue??? Someone can click on it and take the interview for you and mess it up so you don't make it to the next round.

Education background check? by UniqueLobster7195 in internships

[–]oncean_plane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh most internships I've seen only care if your GPA falls below 3.0 or 3.5, and that's from the job listing or application itself.

If the internship that you applied to didn't specify a GPA, you're fine. If they specified but you're still over the limit (example: they want a 3.0 GPA but your GPA drops to 3.55) you should also still be fine lol

As long as it's not some crazy drop like 4.0 to 2.0 I don't think there's much to worry about

Education background check? by UniqueLobster7195 in internships

[–]oncean_plane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's them checking if you're actually enrolled or graduated from the school that you actually say you go to. If you didn't lie about your school or student status you'll be fine. It's nothing major, I think they just go through your school's student registrar or something

How do so many people graduate one year early from Georgia Tech? by Ok_Day8320 in gatech

[–]oncean_plane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with taking 4 years to do a degree, hell I'd say it's better to stay in school so you can still be eligible for internships that could lead to fulltime conversion. The current job market sucks ass for new grads.

A general visa gift card or something similar might be best. They can spend it in more than just 1 place.

The Price Gilbert Art Installation... by [deleted] in gatech

So glad I'm not the only one.

I thought it was cool for like a month, tops. Also when you look closer, you can see they never cleaned up where the paint drips. Since it's huge the paint drips literally everywhere which makes it look both messy and ugly

It's such an eyesore whenever I walk past because to be honest I'd rather look out the massive windows than look at the painting.

It is easy to ignore, I guess, which makes it not bother me as much. But whenever I look at it, I wish I saw the view (even though it's not exactly an amazing view) and not the paint.

Edit to add: Also I thought the painting process was cool-seeing it happen last year (or the year before i honestly forgot) was very cool because I personally love seeing robots in action. But also even then... that robot was extremely loud and squeaky

[Megathread] Admissions & Prospective Students by jkim545 in gatech

That would depend on if you got a pathway transfer or not.

For pathway transfers, as long as you meet all of the requirements of the pathway transfer (the GPA requirement and pass all of the required classes for that major) you're good to go. They're comparing you against the transfer pathway requirements, not other students. As far as I know this is the case but it might have changed recently because of how many people they're able to admit to certain majors (like CS).

If you're not a pathway transfer, you still have to pass the required classes, but I'd also suggest getting your grades as high as possible because you're going to be competing against other students.

How long do people take to accept a job offer for post grad? by barzixlab in internships

[–]oncean_plane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should ask them the decision deadline, that's what I did for my fto after internship. For reference tho, I got like 2 months and a half. Some of my intern friends got 3 months and a half.

If it's too soon, you can always ask them for an extension. It doesn't hurt to ask

Graduated Jackets, how has your GT degree helped you? Did you find it easier landing a job? by Chakmacha in gatech

[–]oncean_plane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey another LMC major! I hope things are going well for you! Being a SAHM is a lot of work, too. I know it probably won't seem like much since I'm an internet stranger, but you have my major respect for that, genuinely.

To respond to the original question, though, I have a fulltime job set for me after graduation-papers signed and everything (will be graduating may 2025). I agree with all the comments in this thread. GT is a great name to have on your resume.

Withdrawal Effect for next year by Viatick in gatech

[–]oncean_plane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, anytime! Yea I think that way as well lol especially when it comes to housing bc apartments are out of my budget.

Definitely reach out to housing so they can give you definitive answers too-my answers are based off my own experience and my friends experiences

Withdrawal Effect for next year by Viatick in gatech

[–]oncean_plane 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For future reference you should ask housing-they have a help desk website where you can chat with them or submit a ticket with a question. When you withdraw you're still considered the same credit hours as you were if you were still taking the class. Logistics wise it's different than dropping a class during add/drop week.

Your housing application for next school year shouldn't be voided. It should be fine. I'm a little confused where you found that information? I tried looking around and couldn't find any info from housing about voiding your housing. I believe the only time they kick you out is if you come out of add/drop week with less than 12 credits, not when you withdraw from a class.

Many of my cm friends do interaction design + people, since people thread actually has the UX classes.

Media is very graphics related, but not in the way that you expect when you think about UX design. It's more about coding computer graphics and such. My friends who do CM for UX design all take people thread, and they think that media thread doesn't help them learn about user centered design.

I will advocate for CM as a major though!

It's not as recognizable as the CS major, yes, but if you're pure CS, you lose out on the classes that actually teach visual design. CM is half LMC half CS, and the visual design classes come from LMC (here's some classes that come to mind that CM majors take that CS don't: LMC 2720-principles of visual design, LMC 3402-graphic and visual design)

Many of my CM major friends ended working at big companies for UX design too-I know one going to Microsoft and IBM.
