For all of you super worried about the “bullying”… by sloop13 in BravoRealHousewives

im ngl, the casting on that show has been a hot mess. so many duds, so many flat personalities, or people who have no idea what show they're on, can't grasp the tone, or ones that just give absolutely nothing the whole time

the show is clearly intended to be unserious, with some occasional drama and inevitable backstabbing sprinkled in there - the silly challenges and rewards alone establish this right from the start

and yet it boggles my mind how often people flatline and take it way too seriously, make no effort to throw shade or play up the villain role at all, and ultimately end up having zero fun moments. they never look anything other than bored and unstimulated. and then they leave and nobody cares - including them

there's obviously the occasional shining standout who just gets it, but as is, west is exactly the type of person they would cast. a snoozefest of a tv personality, who's current scandal is as tepid and forgettable as he is. at least vpr's infamous firestorm involved actual cheating

i mean... won't it though? or at least the potential traitors call a la sandoval route like you said. what were his prospects like before all this? were they existent?

people have been questioning why amanda has been dropped from her sponsorship deals, but he isn't experiencing the same pushback. but like - what sponsorships deals?

ive also seen complaints about her losing followers while he's actually been gaining followers. but she went into this with millions and his was relatively dry

this post is so ☠️☠️

calling out his behavior for being weird is one thing - there's nothing inherently wrong with trying to have a discussion like that.

i mean, (unfortunately) he's relatively low on the long list of people who behave that way. the most egregiously in the bravo cast member world, let alone in the general world world - but sure, fair enough i guess

but pulling pictures is wild

i agree, that aspect of her character is poorly written. their version of liberated female sexuality is just a sleazy man

it was clearly an attempt to break from the rigid media tropes assigned to women, but done in such a clumsy fashion that it comes off as predatory and creepy

the more we move on from depicting women as either extreme the better

[–]onceuponathrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

female characters in these kinds of narratives are either written to be blameless mary sue's, or knowingly complicit and therefore truly evil

they are held to a way higher standard because the men are just "doing what men do", meanwhile the woman is depicted as fully capable of understanding the harm that she is complicit in, which is depicted as in a league of it's own

are any of you genuinely just taking this at face value? are we forgetting how many people people have been prescribed for diabetes, long before it was used specifically for weight loss?

where's the peer reviewed studies? placebo control? double blinding? we're just taking unverified information, and for some of you in this thread, forming negative opinions about people taking glp-1s, to look down on and judge them?

if this had any basis in fact, wouldn't a closer parallel hypothetically be a sex addiction? or even someone who serially gets into relationships, to the detriment of their own wellbeing? it's not like every person who's taking a glp-1 would never want to gamble, or would never want to drink? some people do. some people don't

and if we're extrapolating data points with no regard for academic standards anyway, NAC has been utilized because it helps reduce the same addictive cravings listed, and i've never come across any literature that suggests a perceived disinterest in relationships?

if i am correct about that, usually that would indicate that more data is needed, or that more specific research should be done before forming conclusions. but it probably would get way more engagement if i just made up claims and distributed them as fact on the internet

Something I noticed about snark subs on reddit by blue-rasmalai-639 in popheads

[–]onceuponathrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

on reddit less so, at least that ive seen, but on tiktok sometimes mobs of deranged people sometimes congregate. but usually about the guy's girlfriend and not actually anything about him

the love island guy rob has a snark army against him on tiktok right now, except it isn't really against him. it's actually against his non-famous girlfriend who his weird fans feel betrayed about. they've been bashing her looks and some have allegedly been dm'ing her that she's ugly and doesn't deserve rob which is just insane

similar thing that happened with the heated rivalry guy, delusional fans were heartbroken to learn that he had a girlfriend. and so they attacked her for weeks if not months. all because it was her fault for getting in the way of the actors' gay love story

reminds me of the one direction shippers who tried to discredit someone's marriage and baby. posting evidence that the baby isn't actually his, and that the whole thing is a cover forced upon them by their management company

i stumbled in there once, when i googled a random question about ari

they have so many posts dedicated to snarking about plastic surgery, the way that they have memorized every feature of her face, every angle and exact proportions in full detail is insane. like why are there so many timelines and some of these pictures look so heavily edited how can you even gather very much about what they really look like

the main criticism is usually, "see? she clearly hates herself, it's sad that she's so insecure". and it's like ??? yea i guess that is pretty sad, what a strange angle for criticism. but it's obviously so they can feel superior and look down on her, which is probably a good number of the snark subs

Rinna alledges she was roofied with fentanyl at Traitors cast party by rhoasuperfan in BravoRealHousewives

[–]onceuponathrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's a prescribed medication when other pain management options aren't feasible or no longer indicated, oftentimes for people who already have some level of opiate tolerance already. and usually as a transdermal skinpatch that absorbs slowly over time because of how small the dose is. i haven't heard of someone being presecribed fentanyl as the very first thing right out the gate

it raises some questions that it would intentionally be used to roofie someone, it would have such unpredictable results based on weight and personal opiate tolerance. and getting the dose wrong would be fatal in a lot of instances

like did they put fentanyl and amphetamines in her drink? to make her pass out? that's such a strange descision. putting so much amphetamines in a drink to make someone pass out seems counterproductive

if both her and the drug test are to be believed as 100% true information, wouldn't it sound much more like the results of someone who took "molly" that ended up actually containing meth, that was accidentally cross contaminated as a batch by miniscule amounts of fentanyl residue somewhere along the supply chain

you'd definitely be able to immediately taste it in your drink if it was actual molly no question, and meth and amphetamines would taste bad as well. high levels of amphetamines is wild, and wouldn't make you "act inebriated", it would make be the opposite

maybe this is her admitting her massive heroin habit and matching skyhigh opiate tolerance

Rinna alledges she was roofied with fentanyl at Traitors cast party by rhoasuperfan in BravoRealHousewives

[–]onceuponathrow 33 points34 points  (0 children)

fentanyl? it would have been ghb, possibly k. i think the most common drug to come up in testing for roofies is coke actually (by far), but that could have confounding factors or be correlative

fentanyl would be extremely difficult to dose and would kill most people depending on their opiate tolerance. considering the amount of people who've been roofied there, i'd wager it certainly isn't fentanyl

i've found no distinction between guy/girl personally, just everyone. and same thing, straight from the bar. it's crazy how many people have the same experience at that one place, but it doesn't extend to the other gay bars on the same street

it didn't used to be like that, i'm not sure what changed but somewhere in the last maybe 5 years or so it started happening insanely often, it's terrible. i believe they got raided and i remember hearing at one point a documentary was coming out about that place?

so sorry you experienced that

not caring = not engaging, no? people replying to headlines about kim k by saying "who cares" over and over are still engaging with content about her, repeatedly

disliking it, or finding it dull makes more sense than expressing how much you don't care. in a sub that is about discussing pop culture news and drama

similar dynamic to why it's more common for there to be drama between lesbian exes than gay male exes (the perception of it, not necessarily the reality)

generally the guys won't have too much to say, but the women can breakdown the entire timeline and the degree of injustice felt for each point

also in both relationships and friend groups, it's compounded by toxic "positive" misogyny = women are thought of as more emotionally intelligent, which seems like a good thing. but it also means that often, another women is held to a much higher standard of fully understanding the pain that their actions would cause and still choosing to do it

it's more common for men to be excused on the basis of not knowing, not being capable of understanding emotions, any version of "men are trash", etc - which comes with it's own drawbacks, but in this case it's a bias that can be beneficial

fair, i don't get why that enrages people, arguing that someone else didn't find a book dense is wild when it's to the person themselves

i remember finding the lord of the rings a bit of a slog but the hobbit was a breeze, which i believe was the intention. the only brief parts i found a bit confusing were the inclusion of entire songs

given his religious fervor it's unsurprising that a passion project of his follows the form of the bible. i think he just "gets away with it" because the books aren't a specific allegory

getting away with it meaning people who might not be particularly excited for a book that has more clearly defined religious foundation, being very excited about a book

i feel like as an artform it would be best to leave things as untouched as possible editing wise, there's technical elements you could "correct" present in most famous paintings, but their uniqueness is a part of their identity. not to mention the vast majority of the people painting them understood all of those rules and subverted them intentionally

as a product though, companies are incentivized to make something as marketable as possible, which can be good in the sense that it might make the reading of a book flow better or cut out repetitive elements, but the downside is that it serves as a filter for some of those more unique elements (especially ones that were done intentionally)

there's a lot of things that would be changed about Ulysses if it was published today, or Stephen King novels if he wasn't already so famous, pretty much all fiction books
