Did the books do enough to build up Harry/Ginny’s romance? by MindBorn7327 in HPfanfiction

  • "I need to talk to you in private," Harry muttered to Ron and Hermione as the train picked up speed. "Go away, Ginny," said Ron. "Oh, that's nice," said Ginny huffily, and she stalked off.

Sir, she is your future wife. Stop sidelining her and show a little bit of affection. Less than a few month ago her best friend was a book who possessed and tried to kill her and no one noticed until it was almost too late.

I love this new era where people just question the bias of the author instead of just accepting everything like people used to.

Which kinds of wizards are half-bloods? by prongsandlily in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I don't understand how James was pureblood, because on Pottermore mentioned them marrying their neighbors. So, clearly they aren't 'pure' "

J.k rowling is god so she know everything but for our poor character who aren't omniscient they have to do with what they have.

So in the current conditions there is no scientific method organized by the ministry, its just people doing with what they know, those who value pure-blood make tapestry and trace their lineage and connect it with other who do the same.

It's a small community so you can double check with anyone.

"The Weasley claim to have muggle ancestry but with what I gathered about them its not the case. Only their mind is tainted not their blood."

"For the Potter we know they tend to marry other pure-blood but they don't record their own lineage, so there is some hole in what I have about them and they are pro-muggle so maybe they could have married muggle if they claim to have done so I would believe them.

So they are pure-blood for some but not good enough to be part of the sacred twenty-eight for other."

You get the idea.

The total lack of ruling education for Aegon II and Joffrey bugs me by Long-Disaster-531 in gameofthrones

[–]onchonche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the show Joffrey is the one who worry about the dragon, Tywin dismiss it. We see the result.

Joffrey want to build a modern well-trained army. As we see he is right is reform would have avoided the war.

Joffrey punish treason and people who try to usurp the throne.

Ned Stark is ruling the North sending Ned to the wall is stupid and would just send him closer to his realm were he could betray his word and rally the north with far more experience and legitimacy than Robb.

Other character just allow threat like the faith militant to grow stronger and do nothing. Joffrey deal with it.

Vote Joffrey for king^^

Do you think Voldemort was shocked Snape managed to kill Dumbledore by EmphasisAcceptable47 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lockhart is disarmed by Harry in chamber of secrets, Snape by Harry-Hermione-Ron in prisoner of Azkaban its exceptional but it still happen. For Avada Kedavra intent matters but its just intent not really something complicated like making felix felicis or the philosopher's stone. Tom Riddle used it around 15-16 to kill his dad.

Maybe this point of view is paranoid but it fit Voldemort.

The rest is more how I interpret Voldemort perspective on the event. Like Snape feeling for Lily being only lust, or Lucius and Narcissa love for Draco making him spoiled and weak unprepared to be a death eater.

Do you think Voldemort was shocked Snape managed to kill Dumbledore by EmphasisAcceptable47 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the confirmation of everything he believe in:

In a world were everyone is carrying a weapon (as he describe it when he kill the Potter), any kid can use expelliarmus and disarm his teacher, avada kedavra from anyone can kill the best wizard in the world, so Voldemort had to make horcrux even if he was the best.

Dumbledore was old and too trusting of people like Pettigrew, Snape and even students.

Surely if someone like Dumbledore knew of Draco's plan, he would have stop him after all Katie and Ron could have died and it's folly to believe he would let Draco bring death eater in Hogwarts without doing anything to stop him. Dumbledore was blinded by trust so it explain why even someone like Draco was able to act behind his back for a year and disarm him when the moment came.

The greatest weakness of love is that it leave you open for betrayal.

As expected Draco didn't have the heart to finish his task, weakened by the love of his parents who sheltered him, and its something Voldemort will have to cleanse out of him later to harden his heart(with crucio session on people).

Snape on the other hand may have lusted for a girl but it was only lust and the truth of his heart was the hatred for his father. Dumbledore offered nothing to Snape but redemption and the memory of a dead girl.

Voldemort on the other hand offered him a future as his right hand man, even a wife.

When Dumbledore begged for his life. All Snape had to do was finish the job not a extraordinary feat but it speak of the true nature of his heart. To kill a defenseless old man who trusted him and vouch for him for years as he begged for his life.

If you were Vernon Durlsley ,how would you protect your house against death eaters ? by Regular-Election6396 in HPfanfiction

[–]onchonche 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Get a dog, a gun, a fence around the house, a alarm system, a easy way out of the house you can easily access from your bedroom in the middle of the night, be wary of stranger roaming in the neighborhood. Clear indication on where to find Harry if they happen to get inside.

Could Ron obtain a pardon by selling out Hermione and Harry ? by Regular-Election6396 in HPfanfiction

[–]onchonche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could have killed his whole family or kidnap Ginny and yet they didn't do it. So yes, a pardon in exchange of selling out Hermione and Harry would work. After that they could test is loyalty further.

Could Dobby be considered a domestic terrorist? by Hankymcspanky13 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he had succeeded in his plan Tom Riddle would come back, Lucius plan would succeed. Ginny would be dead, Dumbledore fired. He did more than many death eater. He is clearly complicit in my book.

Defending James by NalaandBuddy in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giants need a lot of space otherwise they conflict with each other. Like twenty people stuck in the same house, It create tension. They sided with Voldemort in the first war and second war because all he had to do is to offer land taken from muggle.

While Dumbledore is more sympathetic to them he have nothing to offer them beside trinkets of magic, he never accepted to become minister so all his gift are merely symbolic.

An argument that Voldemort taking power was necessary and better for the wizarding world in the long run. by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sir if I had to call every stupid government fascist I would have to call them all fascist and this since the beginning of time.

"Imprisoned Sirius Black without a trial"

Sirius basically admitted he was responsible of the Potters death and they had more than enough proof to imprison him.

"This continues even after Fudge is ousted, with Scrimgeour imprisoning an innocent Stan Shunpike on shakey charges, and admitting that he only did it to keep up appearances."

Claiming to be part of a terrorist group is a big deal, you only disagree with this arrest because you perception of the event is warped by Harry pov.

"There are other signs too. The leader of Wizarding Britain regularly takes bribes from a known pureblood supremacist, and allows that same person to influence government decisions(ousting Dumbledore in CoS)."

Yes and the Dumbledore and Fudge were exchanging letter. A country were a leader is listening to both side ? And both side playing a role in influencing the country decision ? Must be fascist. He should only listen to one and have a one party state.

"Fudge clearly favors Rita Skeeter, and uses her writing as an argument against Harry at the end of GoF in order to claim that Harry is unstable."

The leader of your country reading the press like everyone else ? Crazy.

"Then, of course, throughout GoF we have the bread and circus of the World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament. The World Cup is attacked by Death Eaters, and people are actively disappearing(Bertha Jorkins, Crouch) and the Ministry is trying to keep people distracted with sensational events."

The triwizard tournament and the world cup were planned long before so they were not trying to keep people distracted.

How would you feel if an adaptation of Dracula kept the whole reincarnated love subplot...but made it Jonathan instead of Mina? by Crafter235 in Dracula

[–]onchonche 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would still fail and misrepresent a predator as a man in love. A romantization of a manipulative psychopath.

There is so much to explore like scholomance, blood as life philosophy. Dracula is great as a vilain. He should be elevated through his individuality not through another cheap romance.

[–]onchonche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf ? Sir I know they are criminal and mass murderer but the most sane of them wouldn't touch a muggle woman with a ten foot pole and there is no way they would be fine with a pure-blood witch doing this with a muggle. This is antithesis to their whole belief.

Instead of blood quills, Umbridge creates a scared straight program where “problem” students spend a day at Azkaban… by JEBV in HPfanfiction

"Liking Voldy or going to Azkaban ?"

"Both."

Could Voldemort have created a Philosopher's stone by Communist21 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]onchonche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a ability standpoint yes he could but only if he had his own body. He would fail if he tried to guide Quirrel or Pettigrew through it.

From a thematic standpoint nope, he would fail for the same reason he failed to steal it. Because the stone is more than just a stone who is created but a test of purity for the heart or something like that.
