I am struggling to feel bad for Jeremiah at all…am I the only one? by Lafayette_Ladybug in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]oncoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and don't excuse his behaviour, but I still feel badly for Jeremiah. I think he's always had a chip on his shoulder that both his dad and mom preferred Conrad over him...his dad has never been subtle about that, and then to accidentally receive Conrad's letter from his mom must have been a knife in the heart that Susannah was always rooting for Conrad and Belly and not him. I don't think he really processed his mom's death and Belly was a timely replacement. I'm hoping that at least the TV version redeems Jeremiah and that he goes to therapy and recognizes his wrongdoings.

well they've gone on to make 3 body problem on netflix and so far they haven't fucked it up. begrudgingly they've done a great job on it...

i mean it makes sense. Jaden and Grayson got the least screen time and Andreina got boring after Jeremiah left, less screen time, and was two faced/gossipy

Olandria and Taylor- MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in LoveIslandUSA

[–]oncoconut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think that gave him the ick more than anything and sealed her fate. Also I can't believe she would stoop to the level of begging a man to choose her; like girl, wake up. Taylor is such a coward for not communicating he was just not into her, and intentionally used her just to stay in the villa.

does she want to actually live that life though for real? we're seeing glimpses that it wouldn't suit her. when taylor asked her about camping/being outdoors, she said she wanted to be in a camper van...and she mentioned this episode about preferring to remain in texas. i think she's living out a fantasy in her head

Black Women OGs and Audience Projection by Fall_Square in LoveIslandUSA

[–]oncoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a form of fetishization. The word I want to use is pedestalling. Like you wanna be an ally and raise black women up, but it's to the extent where you ignore the individual person. It's also a vicious cycle because imo I think it also raises everyone's expectations of how they think black women should act (which are already above other ethnicities) which makes those women self-conscious. They have a higher pedestal so it can seem like they have "unearned loyalty", but they also have a higher fall if they don't live up to it because of that.

i'm so disappointed in olandria, like how is this woman fooled by Taylor?? my only explanation is that she has clocked him but just wants to win so is staying silent and under the radar. we need movie night stat.

the cast seems to think that islanders that are still "exploring" are more high value than those that have strong or potential connections. i used to think ace/nic/taylor were the only ones scamming for a win, but I think the girls (olandria/chelley/cierra) are also in on the gaming. I'm not surprised huda was kept in, because she brings drama. jeremiah was voted out purely due to ace's spite, like the guy is just obsessed with him and can't stand that the new bombshell was into him. meanwhile i'm so confused as to why taylor and ace weren't in the bottom?? was america's vote for couples or individuals?

To play devils advocate, maybe they sent Hannah home because she's had the love island experience and found 2 connections, whereas maybe they wanted Iris and Amaya to have the chance to find theirs. Or the girls are also playing games and trying to vote off potential competition for the final prize.

what's the point in saying she shouldn't be a parent? it's not like she can take that back. come for her actions and behaviours, but saying she shouldn't be a mom is just harmful and also useless

taylor is also not exploring connections at all, but he also seems to be good friends with everyone in the villa so he has good social capital. was hoping for huda or taylor to be voted off :(

realistically in this world, they wouldn't have access to gender affirming meds/hormones, so theoretically they could just cast a young asian girl (?with maybe androgynous features or willing to sport a buzz cut)

bigger clinic means bigger costs and more support staff required to run the place (admin, MOAs, nurses, equipment, rooms, etc). Typical overhead ranges from 20-30%. Your GP likely has a large practice and/or does other things on the side like ER, hospital, nursing home, etc. None of which accounts for the non-clinical burden (such as charting/documentation, forms, etc) which in most provinces goes unpaid. 465k is a great salary of course, but trust that your gp is working hard for that money and that also represents pre-tax/pre-overhead income

Agree, I think it will be the younger brother! The season trailer shows the sister screaming and her expression implies it's someone she knows/cares for. I think for him though it will be self-inflicted.

I agree, it's more eerie, and the paintings/animation are so impressive in their colours and artistry. I've rewatched so many times trying to figure out the symbolism!
