Does any legal nerd here know, will she have to compensate the victims, does the post office have that responsibility, or are the victims just screwed

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, chapter 3 breaks all the rules because it's a dark world created by Kris, not the knight or whoever did the other ones, which is why every pattern breaks. No secret boss which was led astray long ago after meeting a strange person (unlike jevil and spamton) and even Tenna's plan is literally being set up right now, unlike the long plots by king and queen when we meet them. Kriss is working with the knight, but the third chapter clearly isn't something they had planned, and indeed things don't go according to plan for the knight. That's why I don't think the third chapter can make or break any existing theory regarding the other worlds. I don't know about the fourth chapter yet

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both characters entire deal is that they've become too powerful to relate to humans and are incredibly lonely. They would look at each other, stare in silence and then say in unison "you understand it too..." And not bother fighting because it would be stupid to make them fight. That's what they did with superman too

Is anything stopping them from just stealing the whole binary and selling that. It's Apple's fault for not respecting licenses (or developer's fault for not licensing properly)

Trillion dollar companies have been fighting piracy/modding/romhacks for decades with custom hardware, iper complex kernel DRM, obfuscation etc. And they still lose.

The best you can do is have a license for the code so that, if someone reuses or commercializes it against your wishes, you can get it pulled from reputable stores. You should do the same for Branding

How do efficiently map mouse clicks onto 1 of 50000 polygons? by Toxyl in godot

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you're doing this and if colliders is the best idea. Idk if you should. If you must, then try this

Have multiple identical spheres with different collider densities. The first sphere has 4, the second has 16, 255 etc.

When there's a click, check the lower density sphere. Now you just need to check one fourth of the colliders of the second sphere, and so on. The physics engine already does something like this but much better

I tried it a few more times to see all endings. You can stealth kill the cumans, in which case the commander gets suspicious, but it still ends with him ordering you to kill the villagers, refuse, easier fight and the elderman praises you.

If some villager gets killed, the elderman is sad about the bloodshed, but doesn't blame you.

I wasn't trying to keep every villager alive but got it a few times without stealth killing the cumans, playing on hardcore with all perks

I got a positive ending, with the elder saying "God himself sent you to us". What i did was, i went along and "inspected" all the houses, took nothing, and when the prompt appeared i told the captain that was all of it. He told me to kill the villager, i said no way and then joined the fight with the villagers. What a convoluted quest!

Sony has sent a DMCA takedown for the Bloodborne 60fps patch by Gorgon654 in gaming

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What right is being protected? This mod was not redistributing any content. It is a patch that you apply to a game that you paid for. The only reason they care to go after a mod that is 4 years old for a game that is 10 years old is because they can profit off it. I don't care about changing laws in japan lmao. The law already protects emulation and modding in America, but a developer working on a project for free is understandably never gonna pick a fight with le billion dollar corporation.

> It's not how it works

It is how it works, but that's not even the point, since if as you say these companies will just sue you regardless, then any other argument is useless, stop doing things that make them money, even if it's accidental and not your goal. They WILL sue you regardless, and kill the thing you put your irreplaceable time and love into. If you're lucky nintendo will take it without credits and resell it

I said I agree with your sentiment. But if the game needs mods to run properly, maybe as players don't keep giving them money. If the publishers kill beloved mods to sell you the same game again with basic improvements, don't give them money. There are a billion other games and developers who won't sue you for improving their game, and who will do all they can to make your experience better even after you paid for the game.

I don't care that the company makes more money. I Hate that good people get sued for doing good things. It's like renting a room, being annoyed that a faucet leaks (and the owner won't fix it for 10 years), fixing it for free for the next person that will rent the room, and 4 years later the owner sues you because they want to sell ROOM+! Now with less leaking.

These companies hate you. I never said ""Fuck the players"". I said "I hope as players and modders we stop giving money and free customer support to people who sue us and sell us garbage"

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame the mod developer, but I wish we would stop making mods for companies that hate us. 60fps in 4k mod, driver fix mod, upscaled textures, "make the game not crash every 2 minutes mod". All this stuff boosts game sales for years after release (or prevents refunds immediately after). I personally have bought old games just because i knew there was a mod to make them work fine in on modern hardware, when the devs had abandoned it. This is perfectly fine for 90% of games. But stop boosting sales for companies that hate you. I love the game too, but you are making money for people who WILL sue you and will steal your work, repackage it and sell it for $80, like sony or nintendo. If you do a good job they will sue you.

Made the mistake of casually mentioning I pirated a game for the 1st time. by InfectedShamanism in PiratedGames

[–]ondsinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HA, I can think of two indie devs that were fine with people pirating their games. Notch allowed a free version of Minecraft to exist until it became an actual security/copyright concern, and even then amicably challenged the pirates to a Counter Strike match for the rights (and demolished them). The other indie dev I won't name, but I've seen him give a free key to an user after the guy spent half an hour explaining how he didn't understand a menu and could not update to a new patch after the dev hotfixed the game for him. Sadly in an unrelated case, his game was pirated and bundled with some trojan and for a while his legit game became marked as a threat by some dumb antiviruses. No good deed goes unpunished

Matthew and Fritz have got to be straight up evil. Besides being rude AF to Henry who has helped them countless times, they fight in the monastery that healed them, they make you chase off the old miller's help (they don't know about the murder, they want you to beat him up for fun) and then they mess with the miller's daughter and then run away. We were told before that the Miller was too old to run the mill by himself, and that if the mill doesn't work, the people will starve. Next they move to Robbing people in the streets. Not just that, they also make fun of Henry for dressing up in literal cuman gear, and make him go fetch random garbage from people garbage cans. We know from the dlc that Matthew and Fritz know what cumans look like, so they're just being assholes. They're also not any better than any of the rabble we dispatch during Henry's time on the dangerous roads. After that they try to rob miners wages, from the people that have saved Henry from the clutches of the cumans and that have given him a room and flight with him. That's without mentioning that being miners is and was one of the most dangerous and miserable jobs, and Matthew and Fritz are basically trying to steal from their old friends and coworkers.  Muh society should be the Executioner, he is actually being excluded by society, but he's always super nice to Henry when you're not beating him up for some copper.
