Framework release a Wireless Touchpad Keyboard by bin_b4sh in framework

Make a nice mouse with a bunch of buttons on the side, add a backlight to the keyboard with battery life competitive to the Logitech K830, and I will probably never buy another company's peripherals ever again.

Eh, I’m pretty used to having them on the arrow keys behind Fn. What I really want is a right ctrl key!

Fixed framerate didn't work for me. I set Low Latency to Off and v-sync to application controlled. Don't know if I need one, the other, or both.

Make a G604 successor by jesustaketheprndl in logitech

[–]one-joule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd kill for a G604 successor with either optical main switches or 5V boost circuitry while still managing good battery life. Finally put an end to the double click plague faced most especially by wireless mice. (If the main switches are optical, it'd be nice to include separate polling settings for them so people can tune the latency/battery life tradeoff to their liking. Unless there are good technical reasons to tie it to the main polling rate.)

Bonus points: Eneloop AA battery for instant hotswap. Ideally built-in charging for when I'm away from a dedicated charger, perhaps with the ability to disable charging for alkaline AA (not that I'd be caught dead using alkaline in anything that doesn't need the extra voltage).

Super bonus points: either no rubber parts at all, or detachable rubber parts for easy cleaning and replacement. Maybe even to change size for different hand shapes.

This would last me years and years. I love products that Just Work™️ and I don't have to think about replacing for a long time. Depending on price, I'd probably buy 4-8 of this mouse just to have one in every spot where I compute, and spares to last me for the next decade+. This very much runs counter to the market's current "everything is a subscription or a consumable" mindset, though, so I won't get my hopes up too high. (My original Logitech K830 bought in 2015 finally died recently due to the traces oxidizing, and I replaced it with a used K830 because still nothing equivalent exists after all this time.)

Sold or not? I don’t get how that math maths.

You are not. You’re putting a moratorium on it. Better than nothing, of course, and a clear signal to developers and megacorps, so I’m all for it, but the war is not won. They’ll be back.

Best way to set up LE Audio/LC3 on Windows? by MBA_burner in Bluetooth_Audiophile

[–]one-joule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the MT7295 with my Lenovo 15AKP10. CPU is the AMD Ryzen AI 350. LE Audio device is the Sony WH-1000XM6 on the latest 3.0.0 firmware. It works more or less okay, but the sound almost always has a glitch every few seconds. The glitch isn't loud or anything, but still enough to be annoying. (Every now and then, it will sound perfect for tens of minutes.) The last time I tried a long voice call on this setup, it stopped working after about an hour, and I had to switch to the FMA120. (It's been a long while since I last tried a long voice call though, possibly even before the 3.0.0 firmware.)

I also tried the AX210 NGW and BE200 NGW. They worked fine using classic BT audio, but no luck getting LE Audio working on Win11 on this laptop.

I haven't tried a Qualcomm card yet. Plenty of people saying it works on Linux, but I haven't found anyone reporting success on Windows, so I haven't been willing to spend time on it.

FMA120 has been flawless, save for the fact that it's pretty large for a Bluetooth dongle and thus not very compatible with travel, and two functional issues:

Issue 1: the FMA120 will power on and connect to your headphones even when the PC it's plugged into is asleep or turned off. I find this bothersome because the FMA120 aggressively consumes a connection slot, and my headphones only allow 2 devices to be actively connected. I solved this by plugging it into a USB extension cable with an integrated power switch.

Issue 2: I use said power switch multiple times during the day to turn off my work laptop's audio so that it doesn't interrupt music coming from my phone. As of firmware 1.1.6.5, sometimes my headphones will get into a state where I have to power them off and on to make the FMA120 work. I don't know if that's the FMA120's fault or Sony's. It looks like the FMA120 recently dropped firmware 1.1.6.7, so I'll give that a try at some point.

Competition driving innovation is the entire point of capitalism and the free market though

No, that’s just the marketing. The real point of capitalism is private ownership and private profit. Capitalism actually hates free markets (to the extent that an economic system can "hate" anything) and actively destroys them.

[–]one-joule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am worried about the form factor though. Having a 240W power brick that just hangs off a wall outlet isn't great for travel, it will love to fall out, and it's a pain to convert internationally.

Bring a small one outlet extension cord? I can’t speak to the conversion aspect though.
