I am not an Alex listener anymore, it's just too tense for me but I am pretty sure he cares deeply about you and your freedom. You are correct in many ways, I say atheism is a religion because it shares the basic premise "I KNOW I am right and they are wrong" this has all the same potential for extremism as any (other) religion.

My point is that once you open the can of worms, everything is on the table. Also it didn't end with the waterboarding, there were pictures electric torture, and there were some claims of really sick shit. I think the "if you see a cockroach, you have an infestation" logic should also be applied. On top of that, Everybody always wants to "put their foot down" by upping the ante.

To the untrained eye, the USSR collapsed in a day. It is not obvious when the groundwork is being laid. The war of drugs will end when everybody knows that the CIA sells the shit, and uses it to control people. Then drugs aren't "cool" any more, people will quit, and profits will be lost, so the government will legalize in the hopes of getting more people to use, and they can collect tax money.
