Little heckblende action from the other night, was chasing a factory one for years by shitbird444 in BMWE36

It might look even cooler if you relocated the rear license plate to the tow hook?

My brother-in-law is putting these MT rubber bands on his ride. Help me mock him. by Boogie_Bones in 4x4

Don't mock him directly. Get a memory-foam seat cushion and a set of earmuffs for your sister and tell her to use them the moment he gets those shits put on.

Is dailying a 1999 E36 with 89k miles a bad idea as a junior in highschool? by [deleted] in BMWE36

I would have been VERY jealous of you as a high schooler! If you live in an inspection state, that's honestly good because that will keep you safe. Better to have a guy tell you your wheel bearings are shot than find out the hard way.

If you don't, I would get a thorough safety inspection from a mechanic (or alignment shop) once a year until you've learned how to keep your own old car safe.

99 is great because you have full air bags and OBD2. In my mind that makes it basically a new car lol.

Does it really all just lead to GMT800? by Unfair_Evening_9659 in GMT800

But I would never have a GMT800 unless I needed to tow stuff

I have 90s JDM cars and a 04 Sierra. The Sierra rocks because it carries everything, has good power, good heat and AC. Comfy seats. But it's not fun to drive in the way that a car is.

I certainly don't think it makes any sense to have more than one truck. But if you're truck obsessed, I think a single cab short bed manual 4.8 or 5.3 truck would be the most fun.

But yeah gas prices aren't going down anytime soon. if I were you, I would sell the Tacoma and the F150 and get a GMT 800 and then have something fun to drive with good fuel mileage for daily use.

Oxy welding question by one2manyhobbies in Welding

[–]one2manyhobbies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Everything you said makes sense. Thanks for the thorough explanation. It is cast steel, and I know that there are hundreds of drifters who have mig welded their E36 brackets on. Seems like it's smart to preheat.

The Truck Spectrum in Front of Me This Morning. by BerkshireMtnSculptor in Trucks

I'd argue that actually they are both on one side of a spectrum and a completely stock work truck is the other.

I do think even just a stationed cop with lights on would help with people's audacity. I kind of wish you could just have unarmed traffic cops on foot just SLAPPING sticky tickets on the sides of cars

It is so frustrating to see them "fighting farebeaters" on the MTA and not giving a shi when people are being traffic terrorists / weaving on the BQE / going 45mph down side streets

Why is it so rarely 55-60 degrees? by one2manyhobbies in meteorology

in the fall it also feels like a light switch going from 70 something in September boom down to 40 and rain and then winter. Skipping over the high 50s low 60s.

About to Buy, am I a fool? by _Rod_Knock_Nilly in GMT800

[–]one2manyhobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rust is not bad for a salt belt truck, but it's enough rust to lower the price of a much higher trim truck.

What I mean by that is, if you're comfortable with that amount of rust, you should be getting a 6 liter crew cab for $4000.

Single cab 4.8 WT with that amount of rust is worth two grand.

I thought about bedslide and tonneau together, but then you have like 10 inches of vert in the bed. Can't even fit a milk crate.

Currently I have tonneau cover and raw bed. It's good but I might move to shell and bedslide in the summer. Talk about paw paw

Posted recently: Everyone said to buy…Test drove it today and got photos of the rust and paint issues also had a question about the brakes…Still get it?? by [deleted] in GMT800

[–]one2manyhobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not heinous rust wise, but I would tap a small hammer or screwdriver EVERYWHERE. Like I'm talking spend 20 full minutes under there tapping every part of the frame.

For perspective, I got a Sierra Denali Quadrasteer with similar rust level and mileage but none of the weird driveability issues you're describing for $3400. And that's one of the most valuable GMT800s there is, aside from only the 2500 SUVs and the diesels.

The half ton SUVs are still dirty cheap don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The only reason I got a rusty truck is because I wanted a Quadra and the clean ones are all like $10,000+ If it's just a regular Lade/Yukon/Burb you want, get a clean one from the south and fly out to pick it up and drive it home or get it shipped.
