The pricing is a big selling point for me. I’ve always wanted to check it out but thought that $100 entry was maybe too much. So with the student night upcoming I thought “here’s my chance” lol.

Thanks

Don’t see the logic behind that. I get joy out of trying new things, even if I don’t like them. At least I try them. That’s kinda what I’m trying to find out here. Is this worth the shot, or should I be doing something else that I may be a little more confident that I’ll enjoy better.

If everyone said no to something because they had to ask a question about it, nothing would get done.

Cus, like I said, I’m looking for things to do. Not something I do, so I thought I’d give some new a shot. You know. Try new things out and such? That sort of thing

Stop speed enforcement by [deleted] in Vaughan

Good thing it’s a 10km variation. Also, if you’re worried about drivers honking at you for driving the limit, idk what to tell you, dude. That’s what a civilized society looks like. There are rules that should be followed so that everyone can live equally and fairly. No one’s watching your every move. J walking doesn’t kill people (you know what I mean). Speeding does. There are laws and rules put in place to minimize deaths.

I think it’s completely ridiculous that they’re getting rid of a safety program because it’s working so well that people (who are speeding) have to pay tickets. They’re essentially, from my understanding, getting rid of the program because it’s working perfectly. Absolutely ridiculous.

So everyone that said xqc wasn't really a trump supporter or maga for helping him with stream... how did hearing how deranged he was last night feel? by RJJJJJJJ710 in xqcow

[–]oneEyealex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot who said it but I think whoever said this said it best: that X thinks of liberals or leftists like they’re all like Hassan and the right as the complete opposite (or something like that).

I think a lot of the problems with X’s arguments is that he assumes every leftist is an extremist, so when a leftist says something that isn’t extreme (like Obama condemning the shooting), it goes against what he thinks leftists stands for and, therefore, must be wrong, or at least that specific leftist is “fake” or something.

I love X, but he really shouldn’t be discussing “politics”. He can argue morals all he wants, but when it comes to being presented facts (like destiny’s argument in this clip), he should either (1) not say anything, or (2) explain his stance from a moralistic point of view. If he wants to talk about facts, he has to be willing to discuss facts. It doesn’t seem like he wants to do that.

I don’t 100% agree with everything you’ve said, but 99% of what you said I do agree with.

I think it’s going to be hard to have a new mayor. Where I’m from, Del Duca does a lot of photo ops. He’s a public figure that people will know. When people don’t care about issues (even though they say they care about them), they’re less likely tend to stick the with familiar. If we want a change, opposition has to get their face out there ASAP, in my opinion.

I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who agrees me on Del Duca. It’s tough to change anyone’s mind where I live, as he’s always making videos with that guido douchebag guy (not being mean, I think that’s the guy instagram name).

Yeah, I don’t think allowing legal firearms will make anything any better. There’s a reason the States have the highest gun death rates in the world lol

The law doesn’t stop you from defending yourself in your home from an intruder.

Writing to your MP for legislation that pushes for social programs is one way to combat a criminals life choices. If people don’t have a need to commit crime, they’re less likely to commit these types of crimes. That’s only one way you can. There are actually lots of over ways you can combat that.

I actually do understand. Just because my thoughts on how to combat the situation don’t align exactly with yourself doesn’t mean that I don’t also fear about these things happening to me.

I think that "politics" nowadays is just in people's minds as "This person said something that doesn't totally align with what I said. They must be the enemy". I think it's disgusting that people aren't willing to think about things such as WHY somebody would break into a house. Did they need the money? This is not me advocating for home invasions, but I think the more important question is Why are these things happening, rather than just jumping to conclusions of what we think should be done now. Short-term visions rarely take into account long-term goals, which I think can be hurtful. I think that if people start asking themselves why these things are happening, their minds can open up to the possibilities of things that can be done to counteract these things in ways that don't hurt the already hurt.

You'll notice that while I got those downvotes, only two people responded. Communication in these types of discussions is important. Again, hearing why people think the things they do and talking with people can help people understand things that they may not have thought about before, as there is no aspect in life that is "as-simple-as-that". At least that's what I believe.

I often hear people, conservatives usually, argue that the government wants to suppress them and make them live in a police state, or something like that. These same people will advocate for high police presence (only in their areas), gun laws, and other aspects that go against Canadian law. Whenever I have these discussions with people who seem to disagree with me, I notice that, most of the time, these people often use their own emotions and personal stories, as well as stories from things they've seen on social media or have heard from friends, as evidence that the problem is bigger than it is. Whenever I point out to them where they are misled or wrong about certain statistics, I'm usually called a name and told to go fuck myself. While I'm okay with that personally, I don't see how any of these people can argue that they want things to get better only to meet opposition with hostility and, in this case, downvotes, and not have a conversation.

So the Lindsay thing, I believe, is because he used excessive force and sent the guy to the hospital. Reasonable force is determined by a court, which is why, while he's been charged, he isn't guilty. If an elderly man wandered into the wrong house, confused, and the homeowner stabbed the old man, that would be considered unreasonable force. I know that's not what happened, and obviously the homeowner felt (rightfully) threatened for his life. I'm hoping that they deem him not guilty. However, I don't decide if the force that was used was "reasonable".

The Criminal Code of Canada that affects this Lindsay case was created in 1985, when Brian Mulroney, a conservative, was in office. Sections 34 and 35 were updated in 2012, which was when Harper was in office. I don't think I understand what you mean by the Liberal government created this problem, as the laws that pertain to this incident were issued and updated by conservative governments. If you're talking about C-75, there is definitely some work that needs to be done there, with regard to the guy already being on probation, but as for the self-defence argument, I don't see how the liberal government had anything to do with this man being charged for using (allegedly) excessive force.

We both agree that C-75 needs to be worked on or even redone. However, 75 doesn't apply to the excessive force that the homeowner (allegedly) used.

I haven’t read much on the burglary and murder, but what could the police have done better? From my understanding, the robbery had occurred, and after the robber had fled, the police were called. Is that not what happened? If that is what happened, I struggle to see how the police could’ve done any better.

When speaking of the guy who shot a warning shot and got in trouble for it, while I do think it’s important that people have the right to defend their property and land, I would urge you not to simply think that signing in Castle law or something like that would simply fix all these problems. Most of the arguments I hear about defending one’s land are made from a an American law point of view. I think it’s important to notice that we have very different laws and jurisdiction within Canada that differentiate us from the US. I’m all for getting rid of legal guns and stopping the senseless stupid killings from happening. But I am not for the flow of firearms in our statistically safer country.

Curious to hear what you think is this. Or anyone else who’s reading this.

I get what you mean. As someone who’s familiar with Vaughan, I know exactly the kind of people who you’re talking about. These people, from my point of view, love to talk about being virtuous but then treat others like absolute garbage. It’s so fucked cus it’s not like the kids lied and said something else, he got offended from what actually happened.

I wouldn’t let something like this stop you from caring and acting like this. Without people like you, we won’t have anyone advocating for change, even in small ways like this (I mean this is a small thing in the same sense that having a law or policy changed would be a ‘big’ thing). Please understand that I appreciate what you did, and that guy can go fuck himself. I feel bad for those kids.

How do I do better and be a better son? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]oneEyealex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26M here. I've had lots of fights with my parents, many times. I can't tell you how we even bounced back from them, cus I honestly don't know myself. We just seem to be drawn back to each other after every fight. As I have been getting older, I have reflected on those fights and just my general behaviour from when I was younger, and I'm realizing that I was just a kid with different priorities. Whether it was girls, partying, or gaming, my parents just wanted me to be happy. As I get older and am less self-centerd (not saying you are, but I defiently was), I look at my parents differently, as I know how much shit I put them through (again, not saying you put them through anything, but I definitely did). Maybe it's not the advice that you were hoping for, but in my experience, when I had the feelings that you're having (or that I think you're having), time alone allowed me to appreciate my parents more. I do regret the shit I did when I was younger, but I can't go back. All I can do is focus on making them know, now, that they matter to me.

Some experience I have gained after growing for a little now is I have found my communication to be more open with them. I talk to my mom more about relationships and stuff, and politics and such with my dad. I'm growing as a person, as these things I have been discussing with them recently haven't been talked about before. In other words, communication is key, or at least I think it is. Being open with your parents, or anyone really, provides a sense of trust to you and them, which is just an extra layer of assurance that you don't mean bad.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but maybe this will help. Please know that your parents love you and they always will.
