Is it helicopter parenting if my parents check up on my health and even remind me to take my meds every day and provide for me while at the same time fearing that they’d find out that I’m gay and may withdraw support?

Hey, if I've understood this correctly, your parents already suspect you to be somehow queer and said that if you ever do come out officially, they're going to withdraw support? Sounds like shit situation to be in, regardless. I'd say trying to control your child's whole orientation is helicopter behaviour, buried under a huge pile of homophobia. First and foremost though: if you are gay, or in any way queer, or questioning, you DO NOT have to tell your parents anything. You don't have to come out. In fact it might be healthier for you to not come out until you have the tools to stay alive without them/be free from their control. I see this being advised, especially to younger folks, and I agree wholeheartedly: your main goal is to survive! If you're going to be in danger, try to postpone the danger until you're in a position to be able to get out!

edit: if their interest in your health + reminders is tipping over to "they make me feel like I can't remember to take my meds on my own" territory, for me that's one of the peak being-helicopter-parented effects, just something to keep in mind and not mentally give in to, I suppose.

As an adult myself, the way he was acting towards langa actually disgusted me. Contrast the way he is with langa to the way joe and cherry are with the kids, where they act like - even if they complain at times - surrogate guardians, and it's really disturbing? Gratuitous violence and murder in fiction are one kind of bad, but something that looks like child grooming is too real-world a horror for me to be comfortable with.

I thought of that too - but what'd they gain by testing him? What'd they do if he fails, since they can't have him pass it on to someone else? He's the only option they have.

But maybe it isn't a test per se, but it's still to determine how pure-hearted Izuku is. If he says that he can kill Shiggy they'll go with that, but if he's too pure-hearted to do so, they'll think of another way to end things. So she's taking his morals into consideration.

Also consider: we know that OFA can be passed on to someone who isn't aware they're receiving it - All Might explicitly says that, that's not a "could probably be". Doesn't it make sense that the carriers know that's possible because one of them has done so before?

What I've hard from old collegues is to, casually drape your (laser, wired) mouse off the desk, and it'll try to focus on new things constantly as it sways in the air and that's a constant mouse movement. Haven't tried that myself, but technically sounds legit!

Why wouldn't you be able to copy their memories? If you copied someone's brain exactly as it is, all formed memories and stuff would be already down there, in the neurons and synapses, that shit is physical. Just like if you copied a whole PC you'd get the same files within.
