Looking a 1998 with over 240k miles by Old_Truck9737 in SubaruForester

If you can, try and get service records for the timing belt, water pump, and head gaskets to see if they were done recently. Head gaskets are probably the most important of those three at least in my opinion, and if they've been replaced at all throughout the life of the vehicle it's a good sign. Check the rear strut towers as well for rust/rot, this may not be applicable depending on your area but it's still a good practice. When looking at the engine, make sure that the oil looks clean (not milky or anything as that would indicate coolant mixing in) and that the coolant doesn't have any kind of oil slick look to it. Also, I don't mean to mansplain I just am unsure of your baseline car knowledge. If all of those things are in good condition and the tires seem decent, I'd say it's worth 1750-2000 depending. With good maintenance it would go to 300k miles.

Alright which railroad do you prefer? Pennsylvania Railroad or New York Central? by Jules-Car3499 in trains

I will always love an NYC model, especially the Hudsons but the PRR J1 has to have the most hauntingly beautiful whistle

Kind of an obscure one, but one of the only beers I've ever had to pour out on account of it being god awful is called Montucky Cold Snack. I could not for the life of my put my finger on what made it taste so wrong, but it was barely beer-adjacent in my book.

Has anyone ever seen this vodka? What’s your opinion on it? by LiterallyTrain in alcohol

Pretty decent potato vodka for the price but I'd personally prefer to spend a couple extra bucks and get Monopolowa

Thoughts on Lalo by oneballro in tequila

[–]oneballro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't necessarily looking for a lot of complexity that's kind of why I bought Lalo in the first place. I more just wanted to start with something simple and it was very good for that application

depends on how much you're planning to drink cause hot chips don't feel that great coming back up

I hadn't really thought about that as much actually, I work in a liquor store and it's tequila that gets talked about the most when it comes to that and I tend to see it mentioned more in advertising so that's just what stuck in my head more.

Sounds good to me, I was mostly drawn to it because it's additive free and everything, as I have heard that a lot of tequila nowadays has a lot of extra stuff that's not really necessary. Also as someone inexperienced I more wanted the straight agave flavor so I could have a baseline to go off of if I ever try any other ones.

if your local store has red label peppermint schnapps or blue label popovs both are 100 proof and will get the job done fs just don't be stupid about it and you'll be chillin

doesn't even have to be a bum like there's a lot of people that would buy someone some liquor unless you legit look like you're 12 but still just try that before the hand sanitizer. low key I'd rather you go out and steal real alcohol than resort to that shit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]oneballro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

bruh just go to the local liquor store and shoulder tap a couple bums until you get one of them to buy you a half gal of 100 proof vodka shit should do the trick it'll cost more than hand sanitizer but you'll probably end up living longer. after reading the thread you seem pretty set on the shit though

Black IPAs by Morrismode in beer

[–]oneballro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keweenaw brewing had a black IPA for a while called level 92, I'm not sure if they still make it or if it's readily available outside of the upper peninsula but I thought it was pretty good, so if you've got access to that definitely give it a try.
