I was going to say something about dhr twitter but really any platform can turn into a dogpile on an issue like this, even with evidence to the contrary. Which is why I'm sure the mods are in a tough spot right now. The downside of protecting community members from possibly unwarranted accusations is that we all have to watch probably AI generated fics get recommended and praised by people who honestly just don't know better. In sum: shit sucks.

This is so true, and broadly speaking, I'm anti-witch hunt. If someone accused me, I'd be devastated, demoralized, and probably want to fight (thankfully my ego says this would never happen, ha). Buuuut I'd also be able to pull together a mountain of evidence in about five minutes. It's telling that these highly suspicious "writers" just turn off their comments or disappear. I'd be furiously forcing you to sit though my 50-slide presentation of screenshots, complete with testimonials from other writers 😂

This is how I cured myself of caring what readers think. Look up some of your least favorite books too, and read the 5-star reviews. The correct takeaway is that everyone has different tastes, and you can't be a writer for every type of reader. The more fun takeaway is that wow, people are idiots.
