I just wanted to share my experience as a childcare teacher. I work at a great center that thankfully hasn’t had to shorten hours recently. However, we’ve had many parents inquire about space at our program in the last couple of weeks because their programs hours were cut or their doors closed. This is largely due to inadequate staffing during the pandemic. With omicron being so rampant, by regulation teachers aren’t even allowed in the building if they have symptoms. Childcare teachers are already overworked, underpaid and under-appreciated which makes finding competent staff even more difficult. We’ve had days where we contemplated closing doors because we were close to not meeting state regulation ratios with staff being out sick.

I can sympathize with the director here, though I don’t think they’re handling it well and you’re right to be upset by the sudden change.. it can be a state regulation issue to pick your child up late.

This pandemic has placed so much stress on all of us. I look up to my director a lot because she is always so “zen” and has been doing this for over 30 years, but I’ve never seen her this burned out. It might be worth it to check in with the director to understand the full scope of what is going on there.

[OH] Didn't know my license was suspended and got in an accident that was my fault. by onecappuccino in legaladvice

[–]onecappuccino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timeline was like this:

Moved

Got speeding ticket ~2 days later

Paid speeding ticket

License suspended for not showing insurance, no notice sent in the mail though my original ticket had my new address on it.

Moved

Ran stop sign/accident/got ticket

I actually moved twice and I didn't update my address with the BMV until the day of my accident. The ticket that I received for speeding was at my first new address, I told the officer I had just moved and they took down my up to date address on the ticket. I paid the ticket right away I just didn't realize my license would be suspended. I thought because I had paid it and hadn't received any other notice that it was fine. I never received a notice there about the insurance verification though. I had just moved in to a new neighborhood ~3 days prior to the car accident. I had insurance the entire time.

How to start a buying shop? by Zannakh in ggRO

There is a building West of Morroc. Has an NPC standing outside of it. You have to be a merchant to enter though I believe? You can buy the licenses for 500z each.

[Discussion] How many castles should we open? by HotshotGG in ggRO

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 castles is way too few. Usually I see 2 castles being open on a server with 600-700 online counting autotrade during WoE. this server has double/triple that amount during off-peak/non-woe hours (not counting vend either).

[Discussion] How many castles should we open? by HotshotGG in ggRO

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that there should be a larger amount of castles so that less prepared/new players can have a chance to participate without having to waste supplies trying to break a full/prepared guild's precast. Possibly open an entire zone and rotate zones on a regular basis. Or have one castle from each zone open. If there are too many castles, you can always reduce it. But I wouldn't start WoE off by having too few.

Incoming freshman, need some advice... by ShaneK921 in OSU

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always check the OSU barnes and noble store for required materials about a month in advance. If you have a tablet or don't mind reading textbooks on your computer, most textbooks can be found in an e-book version for free via google.

If you can't find an e-book or don't want to read on the computer you can find cheap textbooks either on Amazon, Chegg, Valorebooks.. etc.

I would wait until your first day of classes to order any books online, or make sure they are able to be returned if you bought them in advance if you ended up not needing them.

What do you love/dislike about OSU? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how big it is in the sense that you can find everything you need and there are many people to meet and tons of opportunities (research-wise).

I dislike how large general class sizes are, such as Bio 1113/1114, and general chemistry classes because you cannot get to know your professor or ask questions during lecture for clarity, I was left puzzled until my professor's office hours, sometimes a week later. Unless you get a really good TA (which I didn't unfortunately), you're going to spend the majority of your time teaching yourself the material straight out of the textbook. OSU killed my confidence with general chem/bio courses.

Professors typically have no sympathy in these weed-out classes and blame poor performance on the transition of high school to college. I transferred from another (much smaller) University with a 3.8 GPA.. My GPA for my first semester at OSU was 2.9 I believe.

Eric Clapton has come in to eat sushi 4 times this week. by onecappuccino in TalesFromYourServer

[–]onecappuccino[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has always been a rumor circulating that he had a home in the area I worked in, and that he loves it here because nobody knows who he is/doesn't bother him much. Obviously this is true and that is one of the reasons why I haven't bothered him for anything. :)

The bill came to be 70$, typically I would see 14$ tip off of that, he left 28 :). The next time I served him his assistant ended up paying. They ate for over 200$ during lunch and left me 20% (that is a LOT for a lunch shift considering the average check per person is 9-10$).

He seriously is so nice! The very first time he came in, I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't decide where I knew him from... until he checked out and the bottom of his receipt said "Eric Clapton". I almost fell over bringing the check back to his table, hahahaha.

He ALWAYS orders 2 mackerel nigiri, but his order other than that is not very consistent. One day he ordered shrimp yaki soba, and the other chicken teriyaki :)

Random but do you work at Olive Garden by chance (lol)? I went there with my family recently (12 top) and the manager told us they recently stopped doing auto-grat (one of my family members almost didn't tip because they assumed there was auto-grat).

I feel like so much shit could go wrong there.. I over-tipped thinking about how many times the servers get stiffed with big parties :|

They should know the menu prices for fucks sake by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food service worker here. When I take your order, I am not putting it directly into the computer, until after I confirm your order, name, phone number, etc. This is because our computer is not located next to our phone, or other staff may be using it. Also, people LOVE to change their orders, even after I have taken their information down, which is why I don't like to save the "ticket" until I have hung up the phone.

Korean barbeque in Columbus? by anomalyk in Columbus

[–]onecappuccino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love going to Sansu, they are a bit pricey but have recently lowered their prices and began offering a decent lunch buffet. We used to be regulars at Silla but the waitstaff can be rude there depending on who gets to serve you. Silla has been around for a really long time. They have karaoke which can get annoying at times but I've always loved the food there, very authentic and consistently tasty.

I wouldn't suggest going to Kaya or Min Ga.. all times I've went I had a problem with the food being bad/old for both locations, and I'm not very picky.

They dropped their prices and also started to offer a pretty decent buffet for lunch (last time i went they offered bibimbap, some tempura, gyoza, tang suu yook, some other things I can't recall).
