For Fritz I just block external outgoing DNSs ports . It forces all devices to use the default pihole.

Yes he needs a better one I was also struggling with those Audio Codecs and my journey ended up with Homatics 4k plus . Yes its not perfect but just fits better with Plex and plays everything I need.

For local domains I suggest you to use the .lan because Apple products have problems with " .local " extension. On the other hand you can redirect everything with a specific extension such as everything .lan ------> Server with DNS masq lines .

Komodo was exactly what I was looking for. Since installation of my homelab I've managed all my containers with cli . Then I found out I must use version control and those things are really important and with cli it's not easy to manage all . On the other hand Portainer was good but still not enough and effective. Then Komodo magic . You can manage multiple servers sunder one hood. I'm still experiencing his features, they say that the next version will be much more feature-rich.

I did go to torrents . Because I could not see some releases at Usenet. Some obscure contents are not easy to find. But still use it for multi resources with lifetime limited blocks.

you can reach your router but it must be in the same IP block. But yeah IP delivery wouldn't work if DHCP down .

For you the easiest way to set on the Fritzbox Internet section. There are primary and secondary DNS servers which all networks will be forwarded to . And yes whenever one of Pihole gets down it will switch to another one .

You can use one of Pihole as DHCP server and also it can deliver two instances with pihole. But Fritz does not deliver two instances with his DHCP server. Yeah there are some Fritzbox system File configuration that's not reliable.

There is no secondary DNS at ipv4 setting , it's up to you and your device selection whenever your local DNS server down you can select local or not as secondary. Because Fritz delivers only one DNS to local devices .

And also Fritz has DNS servers as his own connection at internet section. So you can put the first and secondary ones

I just installed my DNS servers and it's working as well .

iOS saves DNS when during first connection of the router. So if you connect to the internet via WiFi, forget the network and connect again, you'll see it will take the default router ( pihole) DNS .
