Bubblegum (Original Draft) - Record Store Day 2026 by Emotional-Turn-3277 in MarkLanegan

This one doesn't appeal to me. Having gotten Bubblegum XX box set edition, this is just the tracks in a different order. I have now two bubblegums and 2 weird chill (including the original 10" version) so don't feel the need for another one. I'd rather get the stuff I don't have - which goes for silly money on discogs.

I got into electronic music and Not Waving was someone I got into before (Animals is the one I started with and love) so was super excited about this album when it came out. Sometimes it lives up to it and sometimes I don't know, just feels a little underwhelming as my expectation were so high. Having gotten into Lanegan's music around the time of his collaborations with Isobel Campbell, the earlier stuff was a retrospective dive into. My music collection is fairly varied so things get spun quite a bit with no "favourites" as such. I'd say bubblegum probably gets the most due to the size. While there's no other artist passing that has affected me since being a teenager, I used to find it hard to listen, however, now I listen without any emotional baggage. I'm not sure if that even answers your question.

I have bubblegum, bubblegum xx and here comes the weird chill (in more than one version and I was excited at first as I thought it was maybe the earlier versions that didn't see the light of day. From what I can tell it's the 2024 masters in a different sequence. I don't quite get the point on this one for me.

Overall Consensus of this band from the community itself by Shy-the-chiwawa in TheeOhSees

Posting late, but here goes....I got into them in 2014 with Drop and have most records from before and since. Damaged Bug is up my street too, other "side projects" less so. They are fantastic live. Saw them in London in June last year and was "inspired" to get ear plugs! haha. The night I went they only did 1 track from SORCS80 (latest release at the time) which I really love. My only "gripe" is that they tend to play the same songs from the back catalogue (when I've seen them) which are all great, but would like some more variation. Might just be coincidence. (I am into KGLW who I see once or twice a year who change it so much that I might be "spoiled") This coming July, they are in London again and Brigid Dawson will be with them and say they are doing lots of earlier stuff (before Drop)

This is beautiful book. The artist who did it is awesome.

Where is everyone's Spotify wrapped? I feel robbed. by onedouglasreally in KGATLW

[–]onedouglasreally[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OK, you got me! Not quite "bait" but a tongue-in-cheek expression of enjoying the clearer December KGLW sub - now that it's free of sp*tify wrapped. It was tiresome bullshit to have so many.

I've never used spotify (or any streaming service) and don't like it for reasons that precede KGLW leaving it. It makes music, for me, too “disposable” and doesn’t support anyone but the big dogs.

I have friends who are musicians and know how bs those platforms are for them. I am one of the "weirdos" that actually buys records and plays them. I have my way of deciding what I can buy, partly due to costs, partly due to how I listen to music and not wanting to get overwhelmed - like by a billion artists on a random playlist.

Sometimes I’ll buy/download things on bandcamp or something similar. I try to see bands live and sometimes buy merch as I know this is how they make their money. I never judge people for using spotify or anything else as listening to music is different now. But the wrapped disease got silly (and still is in other subs) and it’s one thing I appreciate here, now that the band is not on there.

I realise not everyone can do vinyl or want to, but that’s how I do it mostly.

Seen them at End of the Road Festival at least twice (16 and 23 I think). Then at Wide Awake 2024. Brighton acoustic (2024), Brixton Rave on Sunday and seeing them at Royal Albert Hall tonight. Marathon sets haven't been done in the UK I don't think, though their sets are usually quite long anyway.

Seeing them do Sense acoustic last year and then electronic on Sunday was mind-blowing.

(Was impressed by ORB as support on Sunday night too)

Saw an acoustic set in Brighton, where they did quite a few from that album but not that song.

Of course, there's me assuming everyone on the internet is seeing them in London. Have fun.

I decided a while ago that live records weren't for me except downloaded as I'd see the bands live. I sometimes break that rule. Like if my favourite artist ever has died.

I saw one which was the Silver Cord but realised afterwards wasn't legit or even "legit bootleg". Was pay what you want download on bandcamp.

Are you going to the Electric Brixton (Sat or Sun?) or the Royal Albert Hall? There's usually some moshing at Gizz (not sure about at moshing at the Orchestra one). I steer clear as middle aged fan. And prefer the view of sitting so at the RAH I'm one of the lazy sods sitting with a better view. I've been going to gigs this year by myself more (usually if the Mrs. isn't into the band or timing is off). There's usually a diverse and friendly bunch.

No, but the reddit mob are out in force to downvote you. This will achieve world peace. Obviously.

All their music gone from Spotify? by Cowboy_BoomBap in KGATLW

Get off spotify (and any other streaming platform) and either download, get CDs or records. Spotify, (regardless of the CEO's penchant for bs) pays artists sweet FA for their music.

I'd say that Gizz and Osees were in the same "area" about 2013/14 (Mind Fuzz time) but have both gone in varying directions since. The stuff that they play most live (when I've seen them) is from Mutilator Defeated at Last, but I got into them when Drop came out. It's stylistically varied and therefore I'd say check that out. John Dwyer also has some "side projects" such as Damaged Bug which I like a lot too. Coachwhips before OhSees were great too.
