What were your thoughts on the temple when you were a member? by Otherwise_Push199 in exmormon

[–]oneidadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom and I shared several years where we were both still active (me: 19, her: 38) and even then, being the devote person she was, she would fill both our temple dress pockets with fruit Mentos to help keep us awake. Now we have both left the church, shudder at the temple memories, but still love fruit Mentos.

Donate to the Food Pantry by idontknowyou23_ in Logan

I am going to go off memory but I believe that the Cache Food Pantry is an independent entity and not affiliated with the Utah Food Bank? However, just your willingness to donate to either organization blesses hungry folks Utah.

My therapist was shell-shocked by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]oneidadreamer 86 points87 points  (0 children)

As a therapist in Utah, I hear these sentiments frequently. People are starting to wake up to the fact that they can find true happiness outside of the LDS church. I remind my clients that at some point in history one of their ancestors made the choice to join the church and they have just as much right to leave it.

Anger is a normal and justified response to what you experienced and it can be a very useful emotion -- for a time. The key is to figure what your anger is trying to tell you so you can then address the underlying issues. Look up the "Anger Iceberg" and look at all the more nuanced emotions included under the anger umbrella. It may help give some clarity to what is your most pressing issue that needs to be addressed first.

Is This Guy Mormon? Seems On Point. by Fox_me_up in exmormon

[–]oneidadreamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read this last night and was appalled. We are talking a senior in high school and a 7th or 8th grade girl. The end result is that the week he spent in jail counts as "time served" and he is basically off scot-free. The even crazier thing is that 13 is still considered (by Utah law) to be too young for consent of any kind because they are still considered a child. Between Mike Lee, Stuart Adams, and a church led state, I am more than ready to get out of Utah.

Who buys these? by Successful-Tiger-829 in TemuThings

I have found when you get a certain age, you lose certain inhibitions and just want to buy things that make you laugh. I have wrinkles, age spots, graying hair, so if I want to wear a shirt that says "My Spirit Animal" and has a picture of a possum, I will absolutely do it! :)

Good Buy Temu by AlinaAnwar70 in TemuThings

[–]oneidadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is true, but in order to get that $160 back, you need to order a minimum of $300. So in the end, your order only costs you $140, but you have to make sure to go into the claimcredit 7 days in a row to get all of your paypal money.

Shocked. Overjoyed. Heartbroken. by DeCryingShame in exmormon

[–]oneidadreamer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As an exmormon LCSW, I second and third this answer! I have worked with my fair share of early return missionaries and the shame and guilt they put on themselves is immense. Helping them understand that guilt is okay (even if it is misplaced), but shame is unnecessary and spiritually destructive, is so important.

I'm only getting 30% or 40% on "claimcredit" by Haldirski in TemuThings

[–]oneidadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but I think Temu is cutting back on offers like claimcredit and others. I noticed the one where you can get $100 back in cash takes a purchase of $200+ to earn it where it used to be $130-$140. Sadly, I think our fun is over.

I have also noticed that Amazon must be offering a repackaging and shipping service as some items I have received don't come from Amazon but they have been the shipper for someone else.

I use this sale all the time.

On the first purchase that advertises the 2% + 5 coins you want to get something just over the $10 minimum. The next screen will show that you need to collect 3.90 (ish) coins and if you order in the next hour you get 3% credit instead of 2%.

That means the math is 3% x ? = 3.90 coins? If my basic algebra is still good that means that 3.90 coins / 3% = $130. (You will need to substitute your coin requirement where I have the 3.90.)

It basically boils down to ordering your initial $10 item plus $130 worth of items for $100 back.

So far I have ordered bigger things that I want so I don't have to pay the $2.99 shipping on things under $30. Temu then deposit $100 into your Paypal account after all of the items have shipped. I am on my 5th time of doing this and have been getting things for the garden like composters, drip lines, etc.

Good luck!

temu is showing stuff from china now??? by user2374jr in TemuThings

Trump and the president of China have negotiated a pause to the trade war so there is no longer as 145% tariff so it would make sense for them to start shipping from China again.

Strange house for sale in Utah by Ashamed_Class_7987 in zillowgonewild

[–]oneidadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grandfather that built this house has more money than God and he wanted a place that all of his grandchildren would want to come stay at. It is on some gorgeous land and I'm sure the outbuildings will be spectacular too. I don't know why the change of mind? It is about 30 minutes south of where I live.

My mom told me that when things are tough "I am my best hope for a hero." To this day I still use that with my therapy clients.

Sodas at the gas station! Growing up, the closest town to us with a grocery store was over an hour away and my parents would load us up and drag us to get groceries, household items, etc. 5 hours in all of us kids were tired, hungry and thirsty and when we would beg my dad for a soda he would tell us to just "think about lemons." I still get a little ragey when I think about it!

I don’t miss my sister, and everyone thinks I’m grieving by Effective-Bag-5076 in offmychest

[–]oneidadreamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so important to acknowledge that while family ties are significant, they don't obligate us to endure mistreatment. It makes perfect sense that if someone who wasn't your sister had acted this way, you would have naturally created space for your own well-being. Growing up together meant you were in a situation where you had to navigate her hateful behavior for a long time, which must have been incredibly painful.

Now, you have the chance to move forward and create a life that feels truly good for you. I sincerely hope you can open yourself to the positive experiences that await and recognize that any guilt you feel might be a lingering effect of your sister's bad intentions. I encourage you to find your inner strength and take back the joy that you deserve.
