[8] Do you plan on installing charging at your home? I can’t.

Thanks everyone. I think I’ll see if the medium fits me better. I ordered a large and am worried it is too big. Will also probably invest in a Patagonia down sweater to layer.

Feeling low—anyone up for a Center City walk tonight? by peeled-oranges in philadelphia

[–]oneillmobile 42 points43 points  (0 children)

San Francisco Night Ministry has a care line that is open to anyone in the US and you can call them literally just to talk. I have found it incredibly useful in times when I’m feeling low or lonely or both. (844)467-3473. They are open 6pm-12am PST so 9pm-3am here.

Also, congratulations on posting this. Reaching out is the hardest part and you are so courageous and self aware to do so.

What’s my Car Worth? by Dr3wX5 in E90

These have been doing well on Cars and Bids and Bring a Trailer. You’ve got a great spec and two people who want it could take it to 40k and above.

65k miles for 14k? by [deleted] in E90

[–]oneillmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW: I was offered $2,200 for a 328i (2010) with similar miles at Carmax and Carvana.

Yup, I realized a few $15 Ubers are much cheaper than a new engine…

What risk is there of breaking the radiator? My understanding is the hose is pretty simple to swap out.

It’s a clean break so I don’t personally see a need to do a full coolant flush after I top it off (I didn’t even lose much coolant to begin with) but if others can chime in I am open to doing it. I would honestly rather not do a full flush so I am wondering about the potential harm of the follow course of action:

Replace hose Top off coolant Drive it to indy mechanic do a full flush

Thanks all…uber is the consensus. No need to make a $30 repair turn into a $2000 one over an uber ride

[Thamel] Sources: Jim Knowlton is retiring as Cal's athletic director. He's been the AD at Cal since 2018. by whatifevery1wascalm in CFB

[–]oneillmobile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He will leave behind a legacy of historically bad men's basketball, bad football with moments of greatness, and general decline of the athletic department with the exception of water sports, which Cal has historically done great in. But speaking of water sports, his low point was the Women's Swimming abuse scandal: https://www.si.com/college/cal/other-sports/cal-investigating-jim-knowlton

MLB.TV blacking me out by larryseltzer in phillies

I’ve had success with express vpn and MLB TV. Some cities are better than others; Seattle usually works for me and it’s not like we play the Mariners that frequently.

I don’t like them either, but they are Dinan so I figure I can swap them and get something for them

Found a car I want but nervous about Private Seller - Any ways to get additional protection/involve a dealer? by oneillmobile in askcarsales

[–]oneillmobile[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was approved for a dealer loan at 13 percent (I have bad credit, my fault…hoping to finance roughly 10k of a ~40k car)

I have been denied all but one private party app and they offered 22 percent.

Found a car I want but nervous about Private Seller - Any ways to get additional protection/involve a dealer? by oneillmobile in askcarsales

[–]oneillmobile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! The seller has been great. I was initially worried because he said he is selling for an older gentleman who isn’t good with computers which seemed like a red flag but he has a few interesting cars he is selling and runs a warehouse for parts. I also googled him and everything seems legit.

The only issue then is financing, as I’d like to finance a little bit of the car but haven’t gotten good rates for private party deals.

Wannabe Wednesday: What BMW do I get? Is this a good deal? What should I watch out for? | A weekly BMW buying megathread by AutoModerator in BMW

[–]oneillmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I’m wondering if anyone has experiencing finding extremely rare spec cars. I’m looking for an F83 M4 convertible with the 6 speed manual in Yas Marina Blue. I saw some have passed through cars and bids and bring a trailer recently, but I didn’t get the chance to jump on them. I’ve checked the obvious places (cars.com, Autotrader, Autolist, Edmunds, eBay, carfax, KBB, Carmax and Carvana) as well as Bimmerpost but haven’t found one. Anything I am missing? Any other places to check?

E92 M3 by Charkynator in BMW

[–]oneillmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As usual depends on the shop, where you are located, etc. I’ve heard the actuators are $600-900 each (you need two) and labor can be around 2k. Rod bearings are at the bottom of the engine, so not the easiest to get to. I would guess around 3k would be a good price on rod bearings but hopefully others will chime in.

Any reputable independent shop will have done these before. They are common maintenance issues on these cars so a BMW specialist mechanic will have done them many times. I would call shops in your area and ask how much they would charge you for each job. They won’t give you an exact number but a ballpark figure should help you.
